Brittney Griner is finally back on American soil after being “wrongfully detained” in Russia for 294 days. The WNBA superstar has suffered a lot while going through a number of hardships in the last ten months. And, the Biden Administration recently got Brittney Griner back in a controversial prisoner swap deal that has divided the masses.

The prisoner swap deal which brought Brittney Griner home isn’t liked by many around. Even though she was labeled as a “political prisoner” stuck between the war of Russia and Ukraine. But things now have turned out to be pretty different. America had to give away “Merchant of Death,” Viktor Bout (international arms dealer) to get Brittney Griner back and many across the globe aren’t happy with this exchange.

Brittney Griner was serving a nine years long sentence in Russia for drug smuggling charges. As she proved guilty in a Russian court for those charges. BG also mentioned how it was unintentionally done and how she had medical prescriptions for the drug. But the court cared the least.

Many attempts were made to get her back but the only one Russia agreed on was a swap involving Viktor Bout. So the Biden Administration got it done to get Brittney Griner back. But them forgetting former, Marine Paul Whelan which they haven’t given up on has many criticizing them. Guys like Andrew Tate, Donald Trump and even EX-UFC star Ben Askren aren’t a fan of this exchange.

The former Bellator and ONE welterweight champion, Ben Askren who went undefeated for more than a decade isn’t happy with Brittney Griner’s homecoming. As after the exchange he took on to Twitter to address the controversial trade which brought BG back to the United States of America.

Ben Askren sent out a tweet via his personal Twitter handle and wrote: “We traded an arms dealer for a pot head?? Seems like a bad deal.” He not only labeled the trade as a ‘Bad Deal’ but also called out Brittney Griner as a “pot head” which is very disrespectful. Also, he isn’t the only one who isn’t liking this exchange but nothing can be changed now as it’s all done and dusted and Griner is back home.

The American government did what was possible for them and even Biden has addressed this issue as a big compromise was surely made to get BG back as in the exchange they have given away Viktor who is a threat on the international level.
