“LeBron is attached to the worst TV rating for an NBA Finals” NBA Analyst reveals which player is the face of NBA instead of LeBron James

LeBron James and Rob Parker

When it is all said and done, LeBron James would go down in the history as one of the greatest athletes ever to set foot on this earth. Even bigger would be the story of his journey to greatness, a story to learn from and a saga to marvel upon. He did not just carry the hope of a city on his shoulders but the hope of a community that did not get a chance to dream big. When James hangs his shoes, his story would live to remind future generations that greatness is easy to conquer but to maintain it, needs a bit more than what is humanly possible.

In a recent podcast of ‘The Odd Couple’ NBA analysts, Rob Parker and Chris Broussard sat down to discuss who the face of the NBA was. In contradiction to Broussard who claimed that LeBron James was the face of the NBA, Rob Parker said, “I don’t think LeBron is any longer the face of the NBA.” Parker was quick to bring up the last few seasons that LeBron has been with the Lakers. He also brought forth James’ injury in past few years. Rob Parker said, “he [LeBron] has been injured a lot, he has missed 3 out of the last four years and to be that guy you need to be playing during the postseason.” LeBron has missed more games with LAL than any other teams that he has played for. To be fair to James, he is not young anymore.

According to Rob Parker, Stephen Curry is the face of the league, “it’s Steph Curry whether I want to say it or not.” Parker also pointed out a finals TV rating record attached to LeBron’s name. He said, “LeBron is attached to…worst TV ratings ever for an NBA Finals and Steph Curry and the Warriors are television gold.” Parker added, ”I don’t think he is the box office he [LeBron] ]once was.” In fairness to James, bubble basketball wasn’t the best time for basketball fans when the world was fighting Covid-19. Fans’ presence in the arena contributes to the hype of the basketball.

Stephen Curry and the Warriors also have been among the worst-rated NBA finals in the league in the 2021-22 finals which had an overall rating of 6.6. Moreover, Lebron James has also been part of a few of the highest-viewed and highest-rated NBA Finals in the modern era.

In year 20 LeBron James still is the number 1 option for the Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James

LeBron James has spent half of his life in the NBA playing basketball. He is going to be 38 in December and at this age, players usually enjoy their father’s time at home, retired from basketball. What LeBron has shown so far, not only speaks about his greatness but also the body of work he puts in on a daily basis to maintain his relevance in this league.

In his second season with the Los Angeles Lakers, the franchise signed Anthony Davis and for many as well as James, Davis was their first choice for the offense. Davis is yet to show he can take care of the offense in absence of James on the court. James is still averaging more points than Davis in his 20th season. He dictates the offense on the floor and distributes the ball. As much as it speaks of James’ greatness, it is not good for the team. LeBron James can not sustain this load in his 20th year in the league, though he himself might defer.
