The Los Angeles Lakers turned their season around last season after starting the season 2-10. The major reasons for their success were the resurgence of Anthony Davis and the signings made by Rob Pelinka in the offseason. The Lakers finished with the 7th seed and made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals, where they faced the eventual champions, the Denver Nuggets.

The series between the Nuggets and the Lakers was more about whether the Lakers could come back from the losses and less about how the Denver Nuggets were dominating every team on their way to the championship. Nuggets Head Coach Mike Malone called out the media multiple times for their biases and even mentioned defeating the Lakers in their championship parade.

Davis addressed the comments made by the champions during Media Day. He said that he knew that the Nuggets won, but they continuously talked about how they defeated the Lakers, and it was getting annoying. He also said that he and LeBron Jameshave had conversations and are ready to face the champions and defeat them this time. He said, “It was just a lot of talking… We get it, y’all won, but me and LeBron had some conversations. We can’t wait.”

Anthony Davis claims that he will be in MVP conversation next season

Anthony Davis has been a dominant force whenever he is on the court, both defensively and offensively. The only limitation the Lakers’ star has is his availability to be on the floor. He has dealt with multiple injuries throughout his career, which has prevented him from qualifying for accolades like the MVP award. Davis at times performs like a potential MVP candidate but has struggled to stay on the court.

During Media Day, he talked about his availability and how he plans to qualify for the MVP award next season, which requires players to play at least 65 games. He went on to say that he will play all 82 games next season and win the coveted award. With the Lakers being stacked from top to bottom next season, there certainly exists the possibility for Davis to do so.
