The Timberwolves franchise is a work in progress. While they haven’t been the best team in the league in recent years, they have shown great potential. Two of the core members of this team are Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert. The two appear to share a friendly bond, often seen during the practice sessions. A recent recording of the Timberwolves practice session also showcased the same.
It appears that Rudy Gobert worked on his range through the off-season. Gobert is a center, not known for his shooting abilities. In fact, through his ten seasons in the NBA, Gobert has taken 14 3’s. He’s missed all of them. It appears to change that Gobert shot from deep during the Timberwolves practice. Edwards said that if Gobert attempted to replicate the shots in an actual NBA game, he was walking out in a hilarious fashion.
He said, “If Rudy [Gobert] shoots a three in a real NBA game, I’m walking off the court.” Edwards is known for his hilarious one-liners and counters. He has all the attributes of becoming a superstar in the NBA.
While the team chemistry appears to be progressing well, the Timberwolves still have much to consider. Last year, the Timberwolves were an 8th seed in the Western Conference. While they did make it to the playoffs, they lost 4-1 to the Denver Nuggets, the eventual champions. Hopefully, for Timberwolves fans, the team can buck up this season and perform better in the playoffs.
Anthony Edwards is a rising star
Edwards is one of the league’s most promising young stars. Picked first in the 2020 NBA draft, he has quickly become the cornerstone of the Timberwolves franchise. During the playoff series against the Nuggets, Edwards fought till the last moment, showcasing his immense potential.
Last season, he was the player who scored the 6th highest overall points in the league. What made it more impressive is that he did it while shooting 45.9% from the field and 36.9% from the perimeter. If he could improve his efficiency, he would become a threat to every team they face. The Timberwolves could make a deep playoff run if the team develops alongside Edwards.
Edwards has quickly become a fan favorite in the league. Fans love him for his passion and the intensity he showcases in a game. Despite being only 22 years old, he was selected for the USA squad at the FIBA World Cup. Even though the USA lost, Edwards performed excellently. He led the USA in scoring and shot at 47.5% from the FG. Hopefully, for the Timberwolves, he blossoms into the superstar they need.
