“I feel like it’s Philly on steroids kind of” Ben Simmons feels Nets are more talented and skilled than Sixers
Ben Simmons of Brooklyn Nets
Ben Simmons is back in the NBA headlines as he recently revealed his side of the story to the world. Things really changed for him as soon as he parted ways with the Philadelphia 76ers and joined the Brooklyn Nets. As he was a part of the exchange that included James Harden. Ben Simmons was shipped across in February, just hours before the trade deadline.
But unfortunately, he is yet to suit up for the Nets and showcase the real talents and potential he holds while playing alongside Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. As people out there are really forgetting how great Ben Simmons was and can be in the future. Ben Simmons had a chance to suit up during Game 4 against the Celtics where the Nets got swept out. But then his back injury limited him and he even got a surgery done in the summer. And, now with less than a month remaining for the NBA to come back in action, he is all ready to go in and revenge on every rival of his.
Revealing his side of the story on JJ Redick’s podcast, “The Old Man and the Three” he also discussed about his new and exciting role with the Nets. As the superstar duo is back and committed which gives the team a Big 3 which has the potential to dominate everyone on their way to winning a championship. When JJ asked Ben about the personal reservations he has while suiting up after almost 18 months. Replying to it the former Phila star quoted: “Yeah, I’ll be great and I am excited to play with Kev, Kai… We are an unbelievable team… I have been locked up no rehab is easy and it’s a grind and that’s what it’s all about.”
It didn’t just end there as JJ Redick asked him about his new position and where he fits with the new and great group. And, replying to it Ben Simmons quoted: “100%…With the talent that we have and the type of players that we have, we’re going to be able to run the floor easily. We got Clax (Nik Claxton), who can run, he moves incredibly well; Kev (Durant); Patty (Mills); Kai (Irving); Joe (Harris); just got Royce (O’Neale), another great 3-and-D guy.”
Further, Ben Simmons taking a shot at his former team added: “I’m missing people, but, yeah, I think this team right now is just a great fit for what I do and what I bring to the game. I feel like it’s Philly on steroids kind of in terms of what we had when you were there…” The Nets have really changed the whole narrative around them within the past weeks. As they came up all the way from their superstars demanding a trade out to having the same guys back and committed to win.
Can Ben Simmons lead the Nets to a championship?
Ben Simmons can surely lead the Brooklyn Nets to a championship. As he now has the correct pieces around him and the pressure on him is low and he just has to do what he’s good at, play awesome defense and be the best playmaker possible. Also now he can be a position-less player and shift accordingly. Because the team has guys like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Seth Curry and many more who can take care of the offensive business. And, obviously, he’ll be backing them up on all the ends.
The only challenge in front of the Nets now is to have great chemistry on the court. As it’s a new team and Ben Simmons was out for some good months. So they’ll have to pick on a rhythm and build around it. The superstars will also have to build back or repair their bridges with the team’s management as that’s very important for the system to work. Once they are done with it and back for a revenge season they don’t really have a competition out there if healthy. As then it won’t be easy to take them down.
