Brian Windhorst CLAIMS Kevin Durant didn’t even look at Kyrie Irving during the Suns-Mavs game indicating how badly he took Kyrie leaving the Nets
Kevin Durant apparently turned a cold shoulder towards Kyrie Irving during the Phoenix Suns victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night

Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant is known to have an icy relationship after leaving his co-stars on a sour note and Kyrie Irving is no exception. Brian Windhorst reported on ESPN that KD completely ignored Kyrie during the Dallas Mavericks game against the Phoenix Suns. “There were times when they walked past each other during timeout situations and wouldn’t even turn their heads“, said Brian Windhorst. Kevin Durant did embrace his former teammate Markieff Morris but did not show any love to Kyrie Irving which says a lot about the both of them.
“I think we got our answer there about just where that relationship is and how it ended in Brooklyn,” said Brian Windhorst. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were teammates for 3 and a half years in Brooklyn and yet they continue to sow a cold shoulder just months after going apart. Kyrie Irving demanded a trade at a time when the Nets were on the up which would have been a huge gut punch for KD. With Kyrie gone, KD had no option but to ask for a trade and maybe he chose Phoenix for a reason.
“KD said on his podcast that he and Kyrie haven’t spoken yet,” said Jay Williams on ESPN. Durant had a similar relationship with Russell Westbrook when he left the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors. KD and Russ are both avid trash talkers and they did go at it when they met the next season but KD has seemed to move on from that. KD ignoring Kyrie indicates that KD wants nothing to do with the drama anymore and is purely focusing on basketball at the moment.
Kevin Durant lights up the court in a thrilling contest between the Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns

Kevin Durant might have turned a cold shoulder toward Kyrie but he was striking fire on the court. KD dropped 37 points in only his third game for the Suns to secure a win over their rivals. KD shot 71% from the field including the game-winning bucket in the last minute. Durant and Devin Booker combined for 73 points in their third game together and notched up the fourth-highest points for a duo in their first three games in NBA history.
The Mavericks pushed the game to the last play but Luka Doncic missed the game-winning layup. Luka shot poorly from the field and attempted 19 free throws while getting his 34 points. Doncic and Booker got into it after his miss and ignited their rivalry from the 2022 playoffs once again. Luka said after the game that he is fine with what Booker did but he would rather have him do it with more than 3 seconds left. Luka famously said, “They only talk when they up,” while down 3-2 to the Phoenix Suns before beating them in 7 games last season.
The Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns have the makings of an all-time NBA rivalry and the storylines are all there. Luka and Booker the young stars along with KD and Kyrie the salty former teammates. Kevin Durant and Luka Doncic will both look to lead their teams to a deep playoff run and are very likely to cross paths. The Mavs and the Suns are two franchises starved of NBA titles and a rivalry just makes their quest all the sweeter.
