Brittney Griner continues to face the worst turmoil being in the custody of the Russian authorities. It has been held in detention since February of this year and many claim that she is being wrongfully held. Even though the basketball star is soon to go into trial, the authorities are not letting her free as they keep extending his arrest.
The WNBA baller was caught after she tried bringing illegal substances through the airport customs. He also contributes her talents to the UMMC Ekaterinburg team during his off-seasons in the United States. He along with Diana Taurasi often travel together as well. The former Olympian also helped the Russian team win back to back titles.

Cherelle Griner claims he was betrayed by the US Government
It has been over 120 days since Brittney Griner’s arrest and she has not been able to contact her representatives in the US or most importantly her family. She was to celebrate her wedding anniversary along with her partner Cherelle over a week ago. They were promised to have a phone call with each other but a lot did not seem right during the time.
“I find it unacceptable and I have zero trust in our government right now. I was done, fed up… I wasn’t well, I’m still not well. This would have been the first time for me to actually just hear her in real times and to truly know if she’s OK or to know if she’s seconds away from not being in existence anymore,” Cherelle confessed to the media.
Brittney Griner to be in detained for an extended six months
The Phoenix Mercury player’s safety concerns has been a massive question mark for the ones at her home. Many have come forward to explain the torturous treatment of the Russian federation but what may be worse for Griner’s safety is her sexual orientation which is not favored by the Russian culture. Many believe that she is being held hostage by the Soviet government.
They claim that she is being used as a political pawn in order to work an exchange for Russian illegal arms dealer, Viktor Bout. Recently, Brittney Griner’s Russian lawyer revealed that her arrest will be extended for a period of six months during the trial period which starts on Friday. Cherelle firmly believes that the Joe Biden administration had not been taking strong efforts towards the release of the American All-Star.
