Bruce Brown played a very important role in the championship run of the Denver Nuggets last season. His contribution while suiting alongside the superstar duo of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray was very necessary for their post-season success. But this wasn’t the first time Bruce Brown was playing alongside superstars. He has also shared the court with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden.

The Detroit Pistons traded him to the Brooklyn Nets in 2020 and there he spent two seasons hooping with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and even James Harden. Bruce Brown though wasn’t a happy player while sharing the court with three legends. That took away minutes and possessions from him. In his recent interview with Theo Pinson, he discussed his time at the Nets and how he felt joining the championship contenders.

Bruce Brown talking about his initial experience quoted: “I feel like for me first getting there I was like ‘why am I here’ to be honest because it was like I wasn’t on the ball anymore. The roster was so deep, they had Taurean Prince, Caris LeVert, Joe Harris, Spencer Dinwiddie, like what the f**k am I supposed to do here… I don’t even want to be here send me somewhere I can play.”

Bruce Brown also mentioned how he didn’t even play a single preseason game due to how deep the team’s core was. But soon moves were made and even Brown caught a rhythm and started to ball out. He even found a way to score while setting the screens as most of the time it was the weakest defender guarding him. And, the plan was to shift him to the Big 3 so they can get buckets. But in that transition where Brown used to set screens, he’d end up wide open and get shots even in the paint as the team had some snipers too.

Even Bruce Brown thought the Nets were going to eliminate the Giannis Antetokounmpo-led Milwaukee Bucks just like everyone else. But that’s not the case and talking about that unfortunate moment where Kevin Durant’s foot being on the line messed it all up.

Bruce Brown said: “I thought we were going to get them out of here. The first two games we beat them by 30 and 40 like not even close. Easy. If Kai didn’t roll his ankle it was over and James was out there on one leg and we went to Game 7 with him.”

Further, talking about Kevin Durant’s shot, Bruce quoted: “And, it was about this much (displays a very small gap between two fingers). I was on the bench I didn’t think it was a three I didn’t know what was going on. But that game seven was ins*ne.” Bruce and Theo then went on to discuss the atmosphere and how the fans in Brooklyn really love basketball as when the playoffs are on those people are just locked in for the game.
