New contenders have recently entered the Damian Lillard sweepstakes. Since Dame requested a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers on July 1st, he has been targeting one specific team: the Miami Heat. His goal is to team up with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo to overcome the challenges they’ve faced in the NBA Finals and win a championship.
Dame’s agent informed other teams that he would request a trade if he were sent anywhere other than Miami. This significantly lowered the value of the superstar point guard, to the extent that the Miami Heat offered only Tyler Herro and two first-round picks in exchange for Dame. Portland promptly rejected the offer, considering that a similar contract involving Kevin Durant brought the Nets many assets.
Now, according to recent reports, various other teams have entered the conversation. Teams such as the Raptors, Celtics, and Milwaukee Bucks have inquired about Dame. The Bucks are particularly interested because they were recently eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, and they have tradeable contracts that could pair Dame with Giannis.
