“He took it personally” Charles Barkley DISAPPOINTED with Klay Thompson’s comments for his criticism
Charles Barkley and Klay Thompson
Charles Barkley is one of the biggest mouths around the league. He has always been welcoming controversies while being completely honest about his takes and opinions as an analyst. Recently, Charles Barkley criticized Klay Thompson for the decline in his performance due to injuries. And, now Chuck is again disappointed with him as he took that criticism personally.
Last week when Klay Thompson registered his first career ejection after a frustrating game. Charles Barkley picked on him and said: “There was a time when Klay Thompson was the best two-way guard in the NBA, and he’s not the same guy. And that’s because of injuries. Now, is he done? No, I don’t think he’s done. I think he’s slowing down and it’s catching up with him. That’s why he’s frustrated…”
Charles Barkley believes Klay Thompson isn’t the same guy anymore. And, he isn’t all wrong in saying that. Also, Chuck gave Klay a part of his respect by talking about his past and the injuries which ruined him. But the Warriors’ star got his feelings hurt and isn’t riding with Chuck. As reacting to it KT quoted: “I’ve got one thing to say, so it hurts when someone like Charles Barkley, with the platform that he has, says you’re not the same player before the injuries you had.”
Further, Klay Thompson added: “It’s like ‘No, duh, man.’ Consecutive years, like. I tore my ACL and Achilles in consecutive years and still helped the team win a championship. It hurt hearing that because I put so much freaking effort to get back to this point. It’s hard to even put into words what I had to do to be the player I am today.“
After Klay gave out a reaction of his to Chuck’s criticism the analyst got back at him and this time with disappointment. Charles was recently discussing the Warriors with the crewmates at the show, “NBA on TNT”. And, there he reacted to the hurting comments of the 4× NBA Champion.
Charles Barkley reacts to Klay Thompson’s comments
Charles Barkley clearing his case for Klay Thompson said: “I was disappointed that he took it personally. I said a few years ago that I thought he was the best two-way guard in the NBA. But because of age and injuries, he’s not the same player. I didn’t say he was a bum. I’m saying he’s not the same player.”
Further, when he was questioned about expecting Klay to be the same player by Ernie Johnson. Replying to it Charles Barkley quoted: “No, but I was talking about what I’ve been seeing, going back to the Finals. When I went back to the Finals last year, he’s … he said give him time. No, when you get older, time ain’t your friend.”
Further, Charles Barkley added: “I love Klay and that’s what bothered me. I love that kid. I love everything about him. Like I said, I used to say this guy is the best two-way guard in the NBA but because of age and injury, he’s not the same guy. I wasn’t worth a damn my last two years in the NBA.”
Charles Barkley ain’t wrong on his end as Klay Thompson has never been the same guy we knew before that series of injuries. But during such struggling times when he’s trying to get that form back and retain his spot in the league, Chuck should have been on the supportive end rather than criticizing him. And, this has hurt Klay Thompson’s feelings and we hope they can make up for it. As Chuck didn’t really mean his words to be directed this way and also, he loves KT and is a fan of his game.
