“Yo man! What happens if you do lose?” Charles Barkley questions Jake Paul’s boxing career ahead of Tommy Fury fight
Charles Barkley, not the one to mince his words, had some harsh comments about Jake Paul's boxing career
Barkley and Jake Paul
Jake Paul has become the notorious boy of the boxing community over the years. Starting his career as a YouTuber, social media fame has turned his career towards boxing. While he is still undefeated in the fights he has had over the years, many believe that he is yet to fight the real pros in the ring. Charles Barkley was in conversation with Ernie Johnson and Bomani Jones on the Steam Room podcast on NBA on TNT. While discussing Paul’s undefeated streak, Barkley stated that the novelty will eventually wear off.
Jones is a journalist who had previously interviewed Paul about his boxing career. Barkley brought up Paul and noted that while the 26-year-old is yet to lose, there isn’t much he can do if he does. “Yo man! What happens if you do lose,” the NBA legend said. The boxing star has managed to raise money and his fame to another level with the promotion so far. Despite this, the boxing community is yet to include him on the list of REAL boxers.
The former 11-time All-Star also stated that Paul would lose at some point in his career, especially if he encounters a real boxer. “He is not fighting real boxers. At some point…I don’t know but is probably gonna lose…specially if he tries to fight a real boxer and you question like what’s your next move!” Barkley said. He also added that if Paul loses a fight, his novelty will fade. “Once you lose the novelty is gonna be off,” added the basketball legend.
Charles Barkley reveals his all-time NBA players list
The list of all-time NBA players varies from person to person in any sport. However, the basketball GOAT list is perhaps the most argued over time. In the recent episode of “All the Smoke,” Barkley gave his picks for the greatest NBA players of all time. While hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson asked for his top five, he tripled the list. “Michael [Jordan], Oscar [Robertson], Wilt [Chamberlain], Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar], Bill Russell,” Barkley began. “Kobe [Bryant], LeBron [James], Tim Duncan, Hakeem [Olajuwon], Jerry West,” he added. “Those are my top 10,” said Charles.
He added the names of five more players to his list. He started with Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. Both NBA stars have had a significant impact on Barkley’s life. He continued by including Shaquille O’Neal, Elgin Baylor, and Stephen Curry on his list. “And then you got Magic, Bird, Shaq, Steph [Curry] is right there, Elgin Baylor,” Charles finished his list.
