Charles Barkley and LeBron James
LeBron James is soon to become the All-Time scoring leader in the NBA this season. He is only 157 points behind Kareem Abdul Jabbar‘s 38,387 points. At this pace, he is set to break the record before the All-Star break of the season in February. NBA legend and sports analyst Charles Barkley poked fun at the Los Angeles Lakers star and said that the basketball star is 96 years old. Coming from Charles, it is definitely not a surprise, since he is known to be the funniest guy on NBA on TNT.
When asked to announce the captain for the All-Star, Barkley said that the 4 x NBA champion is 96 years old, when he becomes the league’s all-time leading scorer. “He’s 96-years-old, he’s going to become the all-time leading scorer soon,” he said. Barkley trolled the 19 x All-Star LeBron on announcing his All-Star captaincy. Amongst all the stars making the selection this year for the game between the league’s best players, he got the highest vote of all. The voting system is divided into 50-25-25. Meaning, selection power for players is 50% with the fans, 25% for media, and 25% for ok players.
James has spent 20 years in the league and has been averaging over 29 points per game for the Lakers this season. Despite the 4 x league's MVP performance his team has been struggling to even make its place in the play-in tournament. However, with the new addition of Thomas Bryant and with Anthony Davis back on the roster, the Lakers are expected to make a run in the next games. For the 5 years James has been with the Lakers, he has missed the playoffs three times.
The 2022-23 season marks a historic season for LeBron James as he sets new record
Yet again King James has made it to the All-Star game this season. Since the introduction of the captain for the games, he has been the conference captain every single time. He has also not lost any All-Star game as a captain and is 5-0 in the record. Among the players who have got the highest votes for the seasonal game, Kevin Durant, Giannis Anteteounkounpo, and Jayson Tatum are the forerunner behind LeBron.
With every game and every season passing, LeBron has been breaking and setting records on the stat sheets. He is already selected as a starter for his team, and given that he does so, it will be the 19th time the Ohio State born would be starting for the All-Star game. Every time he has been only extending his lead over the late great Kobe Bryant, who holds the record for 2nd mos, the 13th time.
