Brittney Griner is back in the NBA headlines as her wife Cherelle Griner recently revealed key details from the first letter she received from her.  She is really unfortunate as Russia is holding her down as a “political prisoner” and she is really trapped in there. Brittney Griner recently even pleaded guilty for the drugs smuggling charges (officials found vape cartridges containing cannabis oil in her luggage) which have got her booked for nine long years. She also mentioned the medical purpose behind those and how it was all unintentionally done. But the Russian officials and the court cared the least about her.

She should have been back on the American soil long ago and even efforts were made to bring her back. But none of those worked and Brittney Griner is still stuck behind the bars. Cherelle though is trying her best and making all the possible efforts to bring her spouse back but unfortunately even she’s unsuccessful. Recently, she also met Joe Biden and was reassured about the efforts being made to bring back Brittney to America but that looks like a long and tough road.

Cherelle Griner and Brittney Griner met each other at Baylor University and, after years of dating and a divorce of the WNBA star, they tied the knot in 2018. With BG being wrongfully detained in Russia, life for her wife is really tough back in America as no one knows what’s next for the WNBA superstar. Thankfully, the occasional letters from BG have kept her alive with a hope as she revealed in an interview of her.

Cherelle Griner revealing some key details of the very first letter of Brittney Griner from Russia quoted: “She wrote me one letter and was like, ‘Babe, I know you want to go down right now but don’t just yet.’ Every day you wake up and the fact that you’re still in that reality, it is a reason for you to lose faith and to not have hope and all of the above. It gives you so much reason to go down. And I won’t go down until she’s back. I just won’t. I can’t.”

Brittney Griner’s motivation really has Cherelle living out there. While Biden Administration is trying to get her back on American Soil in a prisoner swap deal. But Russia is getting just too greedy and is trying to make the most out of the deal. So predicting or claiming her return isn’t even possible yet.
