“He could be the new age version of Larry Bird” Chris Broussard believes Luka Doncic could become one of the Top 10 players in NBA history

Chris Broussard backed up Luka Doncic years ago and once again the duo has made it to the headlines of the league. As a video clip of Chris Broussard appreciating and praising the Slovenian beast in 2020 resurfaces on the internet and claims the prediction to be right. Luka Doncic as of now is single-handedly carrying the Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs against the Devin Booker and Chris Paul-led Phoenix Suns. The road has been tough for the young all-star guard has parting ways with Kristaps Porzingis brought the team down in terms of size and also lowered the defensive edge but the clutch power of their leader stayed the same as he battling it throughout the time now stands one win away from the western conference finals.

Luka Doncic has been successful in forcing a Game 7 against the Phoenix Suns. Not many expected the series to go this deep and extend to a Game 7 but the Mavericks with their young leader on board didn’t give up and fought it all. Luka Doncic has really been like the new age version of Larry Bird as Chris Broussard quoted years ago. He has been tough in the competition, his talking back and proving his worth, while leading his team to the glorious path and making the loudest noise among the young guns in the league. Chris Broussard got it right years ago sitting alongside Rob Parker on “The Odd Couple” as they discussed a playoff run of the Dallas Mavericks and how strong and big impact the addition of Luka Doncic has made in the franchise as they are comparatively a better team under him especially when he is controlling the game.

Chris Broussard on Luka Doncic being the new age version of Larry Bird

Chris Broussard on the podcast sitting alongside Rob Parker and also on the national television has quoted Luka Doncic as the new age version of Larry Bird. In the podcast, he quoted: “I think he could be a Larry Bird. I think he’s a new-age version of Larry Bird…He could be, perhaps, top 10-top 5 players of all time.” When Rob Parker questioned that the comparison is with Larry Bird is it because both of them are white. Chris Broussard replied yes but also mentioned there are several other similarities too like being tough, shooting, passing, and yes also talking the trash back.

The take did really live up to expectations unexpectedly and Luka Doncic is surely in that conversation. He is already a top-10 active player who has the potential to run the business down and up in any given situation. The Phoenix Suns will be hosting the Dallas Mavericks at Footprint Center for Game 7 and it will surely be a battle worth watching as the winner advances to the Western Conference Finals and faces the Stephen Curry-led Golden State Warriors.
