The players on the LA Clippers’ current roster make up one of the NBA’s most anticipated lineups. Now that the four Hall of Famers are together, observers and supporters of basketball everywhere have predicted that this team will rule the NBA during the current campaign. But the Clippers’ dismal and unusual start to the season following Harden’s trade seems to be defended by head coach Ty Lue.
The Los Angeles Clippers are currently 9–10 in the league despite having a team full of playmakers and ball handlers with good offensive capabilities. However, Clippers head coach Ty Lue provides an odd explanation for why the group can’t play together without any problems. He said:
We have a lot of new guys, and it’s taking some time to get adjusted. It’s hard to get four future Hall of Famers to play differently.
The explanation provided by Lue is contradictory and based on several variables, the primary one being that they have a lineup that is full of stars, including Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden, who the Clippers acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Sixers. All of these players are proficient scorers, which makes it even more important for them to be able to synchronize from the beginning with the Harden trade.
Lue’s performance let down basketball fans everywhere to such an extent that they expected the Clippers to call a players-only team meeting to work out their problems. Ty Lue’s incapacity to identify the team’s shortcomings has also drawn criticism from many. Some fans have even said that he ought to be removed as the Clippers’ coach.
James Harden comments on the reason for end to his relationship with Sixers president Daryl Morey
James Harden was acquired by the Los Angeles Clippers in a sensational trade. Harden’s relationship with Sixers president Daryl Morey did not, however, end well. In an interview with Sam Amick, James Harden claimed that Morey had broken his half of the agreement and that Daryl’s “lack of respect” was a major factor in their friendship ending. The trade request was also cited as a contributing factor.
James Harden said, via Bleacher Report
We talked about a lot of s--t. And we've got a lot of s--t that, in front of people's eyes, you don't know or understand. But instead of (Morey) having a conversation with me (about free agency) or saying, 'All right James, we don't want to offer you this, but we have this.' Then we go back and forth, and that's a dialogue.
He added:
But you just ice me out? Then it's like, you don't respect me as much as I thought you did. You don't need people like that, you know what I mean? So it's just bad karma. People were throwing dirt on my name, but the good guys always win.
Harden preferred going to the Clippers. He ended up getting his wish. However, the roster of Clippers are still struggling with their lineup and doing their best to elevate their position in the standings.
