Kendrick Perkins claims coach Tyronn Lue walks around with a chip on his shoulder to prove he can DOMINATE without LeBron James

LeBron James is often called the savior of many teams. He has managed to win titles with every franchise he had signed with and he latest ring came with the Los Angele Lakers in 2020. Before that, he won the NBA Finals in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who were severe underdogs in the playoffs that season. But he grit never wore out and he battled to win it for his home state.

Tyronn Lue coached the Cavaliers back then and was a massive reason towards their success. Even then, the fact that LeBron James was a part for that squad steals Lue’s thunder. Lue has managed to elevate teams onto a different level as a coach, he did exactly that with the Los Angeles Clippers.

NBA Analyst Kendrick Perkins proposes the idea of Ty Lue wanting to prove that he did not need LeBron James to win a title. He joined ESPN and Malika Andrews to answer why he is very effective in his work with the Clippers. He said, “Because that’s who he is. He’s one of the best if not the best coaches in the league.”

He continued, “You know the great thing about Ty Lue is that he still has a chip on his shoulder… when he won a championship with LeBron, all the people said was, ‘Oh you had LeBron.’ Ty Lue wants to win a championship without LeBron to show how great he actually is.” Perk could not be any more right than this. The Clippers are currently the 5th seed in the Western Conference despite having Kawhi Leonard bouncing in and out of rotation.
