Dallas Mavericks arranges Kyrie Irving a private chef to cook vegan meals amidst Ramadan fasting
Kyrie Irving converted to Islam in 2021 and maintains Ramadan fasting diligently.
Kyrie Irving gets private chef from Dallas Mavericks, to cook vegan meals for superstar's conditioning during Ramadan
The NBA has a few players who are observing Ramadan. Despite the fasting, they play in games as the season is underway. With that being said, there is no denying that it is a herculean task to fast and play basketball at the highest level, and Kyrie Irving is one of them.
However, to help him during this tough stretch, the Dallas Mavericks have arranged for a private chef to prepare vegan meals for him.
Over the past few years, the spotlight on Ramadan fasting has come to light after Kyrie Irving‘s commitment. Now with the Dallas Mavericks, Irving is again maintaining his fast during this Ramadan period.
The Mavericks, however, have taken additional steps to help Irving during this tough period. Brian Dameris reported that the Mavericks have arranged for a private chef. The chef’s duty is to solely cook vegan meals for the former NBA champion, which he can consume after the sun goes down.
While he was with the Brooklyn Nets, he would break his fast by having a banana. However, the extra step taken by the Mavericks ensures that the 8-time All-Star is getting his proper nourishment while maintaining his top physical condition.
That conditioning was evident when Irving took the onus of taking the final shot against the Denver Nuggets. Taking on a clutch assignment is not easy, fitness-wise, for many, but Irving’s taking on that responsibility shows his dedication to both his game and his religion.
Dallas Mavericks need Kyrie Irving at his best during Ramadan
The Dallas Mavericks have been on a resurgence since February, with a 14-7 record. This record has helped them move up the playoff ranks after an average record until January. Injuries contributed to that record, but the Mavericks are showing now that they can win games.
All of it is due to the contributions of Kyrie Irving alongside his illustrious superstar partner Luka Doncic.
Doncic was pulling much of the strings with Irving out. Now that both are healthy, the Mavericks want the two to continue this hot streak to avoid the play-in spots. This is why they have gone out of their way and arranged for this private chef.
They want Irving’s conditioning to be at its best to help them win games. The Mavericks have a crucial stretch until the Ramadan fasting period is over next month.
The Mavericks want to get some much-needed rest before the playoffs; they need to avoid playing in games. If they manage to get that time off, they will have to pat themselves on the back for making this decision.
