It’s been over two months since Damian Lillard requested a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers, but his request hasn’t been fulfilled yet. He specifically requested a trade to the Miami Heat, but after months of trade talks with the Heat, nothing has come to fruition. Other teams besides the Heat have been in talks with the Blazers to trade for Dame, and now another contender might be emerging in the market.
According to Kyle Neubeck of the PHLY Sixers podcast, the Chicago Bulls have been in talks with the Blazers for a Damian Lillard trade. According to Kyle, the Blazers have been offered Zach Lavine and draft compensation in exchange for Dame. This trade could certainly move the needle for the Bulls, as Dame is undoubtedly an upgrade over Lavine, who hasn’t had much success with the Bulls, having missed the playoffs last season.
The Bulls are a top-heavy team with Demar Derozan and Nikola Vucevic at the helm and don’t have a well-built roster, which might make Dame reluctant to join the Bulls, as he wants to join the Heat, given that the team made the NBA Finals last season. It will be interesting to see where Damian Lillard ends up, as the sweepstakes are far from over.

Damian Lillard is expected to request a trade if he is traded anywhere except Miami
When a player requests a trade and mentions a team they want to be traded to, their team typically respects their request to facilitate a trade, but ultimately, the franchise makes the final decision. Damian Lillard’s request to be traded to the Miami Heat was indeed acknowledged by the Blazers, and they attempted to negotiate a mutually beneficial deal. However, in light of the situation, Miami has been strategic in holding back on its offer.
While the Blazers have chosen to bring Damian back to training camp, they have engaged in trade discussions with other teams. Recent reports now indicate that Damian plans to demand a trade from any team the Blazers trade him to. This complicates matters for potential trade partners, as they are aware they might not ultimately acquire Damian, giving Miami the upper hand in negotiations and potentially allowing them to extract favorable terms if the trade materializes.
