The Los Angeles Lakers picked up a crucial win on Friday night, and Anthony Davis was the show’s star. His Lakers teammate D’Angelo Russell praised him in his post-game interview, saying – “Y’all can’t say nothing about 3… that dude came out, showed toughness.” AD tweaked his ankle in the 3rd quarter, which worried Lakers fans, but he made it back into the game and led the Lakers to victory.
“For him to roll his ankle and do all of that in the biggest game of the year for us… those guys lead, we follow, simple as that,” said D’Angelo Russell on AD. Anthony Davis dropped 38 points and 17 rebounds in a dominating performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Davis scored 17 fourth quarter alone to close the game out for Los Angeles.
“We went into half-time and felt that energy that we weren’t doing what we were supposed to do… It wasn’t our best sequence, so we wanted to come out and capitalize as a group,” said Russell. The Lakers only were trailing by 10 points at half-time and put in a solid defensive shift in the second half, giving up just 46 points. The Timberwolves scored just 18 points in the third quarter, and once the Lakers took the lead going into the fourth, it was over.

Ever since winning the championship in 2020, it has been all downhill in LA, from making the playoff via the play-in tournament in 2021 and losing in the first round to missing it entirely the following season. Anthony Davis getting injured and returning the way he did was a massive relief for Lakers fans, as his absence caused the inconsistency.
Davis just played 76 games over the last two seasons combined, which have been the worst for LA since his arrival. However, this year he has managed to notch up 51 games, and the difference in team performance is evident. LeBron James has been in and out of the lineup this season, and Davis has covered up for him throughout that stretch.
The Lakers jumped to the 7th seed after last night’s victory, as they own the tiebreaker against the New Orleans Pelicans, who share the same record. The Timberwolves are also hot on their heels, so they must ensure no slip-ups during the last few games of the season. The last five games of this season will be crucial in determining the Laker’s playoff aspirations as they attempt to defy the odds and become the only team to start 0-5 and make the playoffs.
