“I’ll take that scenario every day of the week and twice on Sundays,” Darvin Ham is confident about Russell Westbrook taking the final shot instead of LeBron James

“I’ll take that scenario every day of the week and twice on Sundays,” Darvin Ham is confident about Russell Westbrook taking the final shot instead of LeBron James

Last night Russell Westbrook had a strong performance for the Los Angeles Lakers. Now he holds the record for the most-ever recorded triple-doubles off the bench, he ended with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists. But against the strong Philadelphia 76ers, this wasn’t enough for his side to win the game.

When LeBron James is on your side, it’s rare to see anyone else take the game-winning shot. However, that’s not what happened on Sunday when Russell Westbrook decided to face Joel Embiid in a one-on-one matchup during the game’s final possession while the Lakers were trailing by one point.

Although LeBron was on the other side of the court as time was running out, he could have been more effective in securing the win. At this point, Darvin Ham should have called a timeout to pause the game. Ham, though, claimed later that he never thought about taking a timeout because he enjoyed the Westbrook vs. Embiid clash, “I’ll take that scenario every day of the week and twice on Sundays,” Ham said.

David Ham further added on letting Russell Westbrook take the final shot of the game, “But make no mistake about it: Down one, with the ball in Russ’ hands with Embiid standing in front of him? I have confidence in my player. And that’s not gonna change.”

Russell Westbrook claims Joel Embiid grabbed his arm during final play

Lakers fans claim that Russell Westbrook’s last possession was terrible, but the former MVP claims that he couldn’t shoot the ball because Joel Embiid grabbed his arm. Westbrook also showed reporters a screenshot of the play where Embiid appears to be grabbing his hand

“I was trying to get my hand up,” Westbrook explained afterward. “I couldn’t get my hand up to shoot because [Embiid] was grabbing it. But it’s all good.” Joel Embiid also issued a statement saying, “I don’t think I fouled him,” Embiid said. “Physical play on both sides. You could have called a foul on the other end, too, on the bump. So, it goes both ways.”

Los Angeles fell to 19-24, 13th in the Western Conference, after the third consecutive loss, which followed Thursday’s double-overtime setback to the Dallas Mavericks. “It’s just frustrating,” Lebron James said. “Getting in those positions and not being able to come out with the victory. … We’re playing good basketball. We’re just not winning games.”
