With nearly 3 weeks to go for the All-star game between the best players of both conferences, LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo were announced as captains earlier this week on Thursday. Fans vote for their favorite player each year and it sometimes happens that a player may get snubbed due to this. This time it was Joel Embiid’s turn and Philadelphia 76ers‘ president Daryl Morey was definitely not happy about it.

Joel Embiid’s exclusion from the Eastern Conference starting lineup for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game has upset Daryl Morey, and he is blaming the Boston media for it. Despite scoring 33 points per game and coming close to averaging a triple-double, Joel Embiid was passed over by Jayson Tatum, Donovan Mitchell, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and Giannis Antetokounmpo for a spot in the Eastern Conference’s starters.

Morey attacked the Boston media and perhaps Tatum on the sports talk radio show 975TheFanatic, which airs in Philadelphia and southern New Jersey. Speaking on the matter he said, “Joel Embiid completely hosed once again. This time– this time, to your point, the perpetrators of the crime were the shameless media who, most of them will recuse themselves because they don’t want to vote on something that affects player’s paychecks. But the shameless– the shameless Boston media is way overrepresented.”

Embiid’s snub comes at a time when his ridiculous stats include 33.4 points, 9.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.7 blocks, 1.1 steals, and 1.1 three-pointers. He leads a top-10 defense and is second in the league in scoring. And in the standings, his Philadelphia 76ers are in front of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks and KD’s Brooklyn Nets. Not only does he have a strong case to become an all-star but he might be the best player out of Eastern Conference this year.

The Philadelphia 76ers defeated Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets 126-119 on Saturday to extend their winning streak to seven games. Joel Embiid, one of the MVP front-runners, won the contest with 47 points and 18 rebounds.

Over the past two seasons, Jokic and Embiid have placed first and second in the voting for the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award. As this season approaches its midpoint, both are among the leading contenders for MVP.

Tobias Harris scored all 14 of his points in the second half after being shut down by Denver’s defense in the first half, while James Harden finished with 17 points and 13 assists. Joel Embiid was letting the league know with his dominating performance against the Nuggets where Nikola Jokic and the team were nothing but speechless. His monstrous performance added more weight to the theory around him getting snubbed by the ASG starters. Many around the league like Nikola Jokic and Kyle Kuzma are already riding with Joel and want him to start the ASG game.
