It’s always love between Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving while they are together, be it on the court or off the court. Before the game against the Detroit Pistons, the Brooklyn Nets stars were seen standing courtside chatting with each other. On Thursday, the NBA announced that Brooklyn Nets guard Irving and forward Durant have been selected to start in the 2023 NBA All-Star Game. The game is scheduled on Feb 19, on Sunday, at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City. Interestingly, the Nets are the only team that has two starters for this season’s All-Star game.

While sharing a laugh with his friend and teammate, Irving tried to have fun with Durant, who was on the bench, out with an MCL injury. The announcer announced that both Nets players were named the starters for the All-Star game. Irving grabbed KD’s hand and tried to raise it to acknowledge the audience’s appreciation. However, shy Durant quickly got his hand out of Kyrie’s clutch and started to smile in embarrassment.

KD has been selected as an All-Star for the 13th time in his career, and he is starting for the 11th time of total selections. Since 2010, Durant has been selected for this yearly game every single time he has played in the season. As of now, only LeBron James has more All-Star selections than Kevin. If this doesn’t speak of the greatness of the forward. He is only the 15th player in the league’s history to have 13 or more selections. This season would be Irving’s 8th All-Star selection and it would be the sixth time. He has been selected as the starter in the annual game. He started games from 2017-19, 2022, and 2023.

So far into the season Uncle Drew has been an offensive force to reckon with and has had 4 consecutive games with 30 or more points. He is only 1 more game away from matching the longest 30-point game by a Nets player in franchise history. So far, he has been averaging 26.8 points per game this season. Durant, on the other hand, had been averaging 29.7 points and a highlight of 1.5 blocks per game.

Durant has been the biggest factor in the Nets’ comeback this season and was playing career basketball. He was injured against the Miami Heat. Before the 2 x Finals MVP got injured, Brooklyn had a 26-13 record in the Eastern Conference and was among the top teams in the league. Since his injury, they have lost 6 of their eight games, which also included a four-game losing streak. In the absence of KD, Irving has been a solo show for the Nets on Thursday, the Nets lost to the Pistons, one of the weakest teams in the league.
