In the ever-evolving scenario in the NBA, there is a lot of drama and discussion that is involved. One such piece has surfaced with the recent media interaction that took place with superstar Derrick Rose about his fellow teammate Ja Morant.
The 2011 MVP, discusses his relationship with Ja, his game style, and how the superstar wishes to help and mentor the guard. Rose at the same time makes it clear that he wishes to show support and not babysit him.
Ja Morant, who is known to be one of the most explosive players in the league is currently serving a twenty-five-game suspension. With regards to this, Rose wishes to help and support the star and bring him back to court.
Rose mentioned at media day that he got in contact with Ja through Tony Allen who was a former guard for the Memphis Grizzlies. Although this was to just show support and to give the guard the much-needed push, the MVP also made his intentions crystal clear.
He says, “I’m not here to babysit, I’m not here to follow you around, I’m not here to cheerlead,” Rose said. “I’m here to push you. In the league, there are very few opportunities where players get a chance to play with somebody that has a similar style of play. I’m very fortunate to be in a situation where a lot of people look at his game and they kind of compare our games together. But he’s on a whole other level.”
Rose feels fortunate about the fact that his style of play is now being compared to the guard Ja Morant’s game and he sees that in him. With that, he just means to push the guard and mentor him.
