Luka Doncic is definitely on his way to become one of the greatest players in NBA history. There is no denying the sheer dominance the young star has developed within four years of his NBA career. His performance in the league earned the opportunity to be ranked among the top MVP candidates and he was very close to becoming the youngest MVP in his second season.
Drafted 3rd overall by the Atlanta Hawks in 2018 and later being traded to the Dallas Mavericks, he became the rookie of the year after averaging 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6 assists per game. Prior to joining the NBA he played for the EuroLeague won a title and MVP award. The former Slovenian Sportsman of the Year played for Real Madrid from 2015 to 2018.

Dirk Nowitzki, former NBA champion playing for the Mavericks spent an entire season with the young European star before retiring. He recalled an incident when Luka Doncic pranked him using his mobile phone. “I was actually at a shootaround or practice and I got a little treatment, just health-wise, it’s not great. So I go in every now and then, see the guys, get some treatment. And I left my phone laying somewhere.”
“So then when I got home like an hour later or something, I go through my phone and I went to my pictures and I had, not lying, probably 150 Luka pictures. I guess that’s the culture nowadays, the selfie stuff. But he must’ve just run around for 10 minutes and took selfies with everybody and an hour later I saw my phone. So he’s definitely a funny kid, he loves having fun.”

Being a 23-year-old in the NBA, it is usually when players start getting a hang of the league and began their emergence. But Luka Doncic achieved more than what the average 23-year-old would playing in the league. He is already a three-time All-Star and has three-time All-NBA selections in four seasons.
Ever since the beginning, he put up an average of 26.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 8 assists per game. The Hall of Famer also said this about Doncic, “He’s been amazing, but he’s also a fun kid. I mean when you watch him play you wouldn’t think he’s 20-years old, but when you see him off court you will definitely know he’s 20 years old.” The two have an amazing relationship and Luka Magic is lucky to be under a legend such as Dirk.
