Kyrie Irving has been balling for the Brooklyn Nets in the last two games. Since Kevin Durant went out with an injury, Irving has been the head of the offense and a trusted driver for the Nets’. Kendrick Perkins, who has previously been critical of Uncle Drew, sometimes excessively, took to Twitter to give flowers to the Nets’ guard for his box office performances. After the win against the Golden State Warriors, Perkins acknowledged the NBA star’s performances.

Witnessing monster performances on back-to-back occasions against Utah Jazz and the Warriors, Big Perk spoke of Irving on Twitter. He wrote that his performances were box office and he will shut up for now. “Okay, Kyrie I see you!!! Back to back wins with box office performances as the Number 1 option. I’ll STFU for now!!! Carry the hell on,” wrote Perkins. It is quite clear that Perkins did not say that he wouldn’t be critical of the 7 x All-Star in the future. He had an excellent night following a 48-point game against Jazz.

The Nets were down up to 17 points against the Warriors in Sunday’s game but made a valiant comeback to win the game 120-116. It was a team effort from the New York team and as many players came up big for Brooklyn late in the 4th quarter. Royce O’Neal and Seth Curry made some excellent shots in the late game to change the direction. Irving was high again in the back-to-back games and scored 38 points. He also grabbed seven rebounds and 9 assists.

Kendrick Perkins and his rants against Kyrie Irving aren’t new

Since the season started, Perkins has been critical of Kyrie’s approach to the game. A large part of the criticism came from the former Celtics player because of the controversies surrounding the Nets earlier this season. After James harden left them for the Philadelphia 76ers, Perkins said that the 2016 NBA champion should be blamed for it. “If the Nets don’t succeed, if the Nets happen not to make the playoffs or get a first-round exit, that’s the person I’m pointing the finger at, Kyrie Irving,” he said. In fairness to the sports analyst, Irving was taking games off because of personal reasons.

After Irving got himself again in the anti-semitism controversy, Perk slammed Irving for being selfish and said that his brain runs backward. “If you take Kyrie Irving’s brain and put it in a bird right now, guess what that bird is going to do? It’s going to fly backwards,” he said. Hopefully, the former Rookie of the Year finds his rhythm while Durant is out and brings the winning culture back to the Nets.
