“They said they need a big that could shoot” Dwight Howard reveals why Nets DENIED to ink a deal with him

Dwight Howard
Former Lakers center and now free agent Dwight Howard recently spoke about how the Brooklyn Nets once interested in signing him, failed to make a deal with him. As he is currently looking for a franchise to acquire his services he mentioned a potential Brooklyn Nets deal which didn’t go through. The Nets were looking for someone who could shoot better.
Howard contacted the Nets once again before the 2022–23 campaign. They rejected him again for a different cause this time. With Shannon Sharpe, he stated, “This time around, I asked to come to Brooklyn. I talked to them. They said they need a big that can shoot. And I’m like, ‘Well y’all just had a big that could shoot.’ So it’s like, I don’t know. I don’t understand it.”
Dwight Howard gave off the impression that he was confident in his capacity to help the Nets open up scoring opportunities for Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. He was certainly a very strong shot blocker and rebounder in his past seasons. The Brooklyn Nets, on the other hand, might not have had the same perspective. They chose to forgo the former NBA champion in favor of using Nic Claxton as their opening center.
Despite being smaller, Claxton has demonstrated strong potential as a rim protector, rebounder, and rim runner. However, he hasn’t hit a single three-pointer this season. Despite being past his peak, Howard still has a lot to offer to a club like the Nets. The former DPOY has not been the same coming off his prime but still showed the potential of being a powerful backup center while playing for the 76ers and Lakers.
Dwight Howard’s plans after the NBA
As mentioned earlier, Dwight Howard currently in his free agency hasn’t been able to attract much attention from any franchises. Although he’s shown interest in potentially joining the Warriors. That day may not come anytime soon and he may have to look for alternatives. In this case, the former champion has always showed interest in acquiring a title in the world of wrestling.
Dwight Howard had participated in a tryout at SummerSlam weekend in Nashville in July. Now he’s committed to pursuing a career in the WWE. While speaking on the show All The Smoke with former NBA players Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes, Howard said that being a part of WWE would be enjoyable for him.
Celebrity engagement has always been a source of profit for WWE. Notably in recent years when actors such as Johnny Knoxville and YouTube sensation Logan Paul have all participated in WrestleMania matches. Due to his athletic background, charm and stature (6’10” and 265 lbs.), Dwight Howard would be an even better fit than any of them.
