“Best Will Smith impersonation” – Fans react to Georges Niang smacking Bojan Bogdanovic straight in the head as the Sixers outshine Pistons

Georges Niang slaps Bojan Bogdanovic

The Detroit Pistons have won just 3 games out of their last 10. An interaction involving Bosnia and Herzegovina forward Bojan Bogdanovic kind of summed up their season. The Pistons had an optimistic outlook in the offseason with a promising young core. Fast forward to now, Cade is injured and Sadiq Bey is in trade rumors daily. The season’s reality has been a real slap in the face for the Pistons, much like how Bogdanovic got slapped in the face by Georges Niang.

The incident took place in Q1 with about 90 seconds to play. Bojan caught the ball on a hit-ahead pass from Killian Hayes and drove to the rim. Niang, late on getting back on defense, swiped at the ball and ended up slapping the Bosnian forward in the face. A natural incident in the flow of the game, but Niang got hit with a flagrant foul on the play.

The fan reactions for this slap were hilarious. In the game, the Sixers quite comfortably outlasted the bottom-seeded Detroit Pistons. The most memorable thing from this game though might be the incident and the fans’ reaction to it. Georges Niang even got a comparison to Will Smith! Although, one can easily decipher that it is not for his role in blockbuster movies such as ‘The Pursuit of Happiness’ or ‘Men in Black’ but actually because his open-hand connection with Bojan’s face resembled Will Smith slapping Chris Rock. Niang would like to forget the flagrant and the fine he has to pay for it and we’re sure Bojan would also not like to engage much with the video of him getting absolutely clattered in the face.

Detroit Pistons and Philadelphia 76ers set to face off again

The Detroit Pistons and the Philadelphia 76ers have a repeat game against each other to come. Of course, the Sixers won the previous meeting and will look to make it 2 straight over the Pistons. Philly, coming into this one having won 4 of the last 5 have some solid chances of winning it all. The Pistons, on the other hand, are only 2-3 in the last 5.

The status of Joel Embiid is the question ahead of this one. From Doc Rivers’ comments about the big man, it looks like he will again sit this one out from the same foot injury he has missed the last 3 games with. The encouraging part is that Doc said that it doesn’t seem to be a very major issue.

“This is not an injury where you’re out for three months or anything like that and Jo, fortunately, hasn’t had a lot of that. So no, not in this case. I think it’s tough on Joel, it’s tough on the team as well, but right now it’s our whole league [dealing with injuries].” is what the head coach said when asked about the injury to his superstar.
