Former Cleveland Cavaliers guard, Iman Shumpert, recently expressed his admiration for his former teammate and now Los Angeles Lakers forward, LeBron James, proclaiming him as the greatest of all time (GOAT). Shumpert’s acknowledgement came during a conversation where he revealed his change in perspective on James’ legacy.
In an interview with DraftKings, Shumpert admitted, “I just put my guard down and said Bron, you the best. You got it, greatest ever.” He further credited JJ Redick’s quote for prompting this realization, reflecting on his own past sentiments, saying, “I was looking like, ‘Damn bro, have I been hating?”
Shumpert played for the Cleveland Cavaliers from the 2014-15 to the 2017-18 seasons, during which he was an important part of the team’s success. Acquired in a trade that sent guard Dion Waiters to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2015, the 6-foot-5-inch guard contributed to the Cavaliers’ journey to their first NBA Championship in 2016.
During his time with the Cavaliers, Shumpert showcased his versatility on both ends of the court. In 182 games, he averaged 6.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. His defensive ability to guard multiple positions made him a valuable asset to the team.
