“I’m personally rooting for Russell Westbrook and Kyrie Irving” Isiah Thomas comes out to defend NBA’s most prestigious pair of guards

Russell Westbrook and Kyrie Irving, Isiah Thomas

Isiah Thomas, a former Detroit Pistons superstar player, supported Russell Westbrook and Kyrie Irving on Twitter. While many people have lost hope in Westbrook and Irving, the Hall of Famer wants them to survive this difficult period in their careers.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ 2021–22 campaign was about as awful as it could have been. Russell Westbrook, for better or worse, was one of those who continued to be under pressure even after receiving additional criticism for it, and he has to be aware of his position with the Lakers.

After he declined the vaccine and was benched for the majority of the regular season, Kyrie Irving emerged as the most contentious player in the league. After the Nets’ first-round exit, this led to criticism for Irving and the team.

Although many individuals have given up confidence in the two star guards, Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas is optimistic that they can get through this difficult period in their lives. Thomas, a former Detroit Pistons and a two time champion, applauded Irving and Westbrook on social media.

Russell Westbrook and Kyrie Irving’s contentious season

Westbrook, who wore the purple and gold for the second straight season after having his worst season to date, could be seeking redemption. Westbrook carried the most of the blame for the Lakers’ troubles last season, averaging 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists on 44.4 percent shooting. It was generally anticipated that Westbrook and LeBron James would make an amazing team combination once Westbrook decided to join the Lakers, but this was viewed as nothing more than hype.

When the Brooklyn Nets acquired Irving and Kevin Durant in 2019 free agency, the team was enjoying its success as a whole and was suddenly positioned to contend for the Eastern Conference victory. During their tenure with the team, Brooklyn only managed to win one postseason series. Last season, Irving resisted getting the COVID-19 vaccine, and as a result of their injuries, the two hardly ever played together on the floor which turned out to be disappointing for the franchise.

Isiah Thomas with the words of support

Westbrook and Irving have been the subject of intense expert analysis over the last year. They have created their fair share of adversaries as a result of their decisions, despite being two potential Hall of Famers. Both of them have been on the decline in recent years for a variety of reasons. However, despite their controversies, Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas offers them encouragement and advise when they need it. He mentioned both guards in a tweet he made along with some wise counsel.

Russ appears to be set in his ways and hasn’t tried to alter his approach for the benefit of others. While Kyrie Irving can still compete at a high level and his availability in the starting lineup is still an issue, he has occasionally been a burden to his squad in a particular perspective. Only if they are prepared to make the required adjustments, Westbrook and Kyrie still have a shot to win a championship this late in their careers.
