Jayson Tatum was not the happiest of men, after his team, the Boston Celtics, bottled a 30-point lead against the Atlanta Hawks. They eventually lost the game after the Hawks on home court rallied back to earn a 120-118 famous victory.

The Boston Celtics, who were on a quest to make ten wins on the bounce, visited the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, to play a Trae Young-less Hawks, who has been out due to a finger injury. The game’s outcome was never imagined, even though the C’s were the quickest off the block and won the first quarter by 20 points (44-22).

However, the dynamics had shifted as the Hawks recovered from an abysmal first-half shooting difficulty to push the C’s to the end. Although Tatum was on fire, his efforts were in vain as the C’s were missing their solid rock at the backcourt, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White, who were absent with shoulder and hand injuries, respectively. At the end of the game, Tatum had a frank response to the outcome.

Tatum said:

It's tough. You want to win every game you play. For us, people think we should never lose. We were up by a lot, we f***ed the game up, and we know that. We're all adults and professionals and know we didn't do the things necessary to win.

Jayson Tatum, however, ended the game with an impressive 37 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. The Celtics hope to return to winning ways and avenge their loss when they face the Hawks again.

Former NBA Coach of the Year, Sam Mitchell, lauds Celtics duo

Despite falling to the might of the Atlanta Hawks last night, their dynamic duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown had received praise from the ex-coach and now league analyst Sam Mitchell. The duo have been instrumental in the Celtics’ rise in recent years.

The C’s have been a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference and have been ever present in recent postseasons. Despite the addition and strong performances by Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, and Kristaps Porzingis, the duo have been the leading force behind their ascension. He said this while speaking on NBA TV.

Sam Mitchell said:

Boston right now is set up for the next eight to nine years. Because as long as they have Tatum with Brown together, they got a chance to win. Those two guys, they are the best forward combination in the NBA.
Sam Mitchell said

The Celtics this season are one of the favorites to clinch this season’s NBA championship, all because of the outstanding performances of their magnificent forward duo. They are 1st in the Eastern Conference standings and have already clinched a place in the postseason.
