What Jayson Tatum did against the Miami Heat no other player in NBA history has ever done it twice. As it was the second time in Tatum’s career that he has dropped 45+ points with 10+ rebounds and made at least 8 three-point shots in a game. A record that only Tatum holds in the league history. Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, Paul George, James Harden, Kobe Bryant, and Ray Allen have made this feat only once in their career.

Tatum dropped 49 points with 11 rebounds and 3 assists in the Boston Celtics’ win against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. Boston defeated the Miami Heat with a commanding margin of 134-121. Tatum was sizzling as he made 15 of 25 shots from the field and shot 8 of 12 from beyond the arc.

Jayson Tatum has been a forerunner in the MVP conversation this year. One after another he has been putting on heroic performances for the Celtics this season. The 24-year-old Celtics star had all his arsenal in use in front of Prince William and Princess Middleton sitting in the front row. With his historic performance against the Miami Heat, Tatum has made his MVP case even stronger.

Tatum is just 24 right now and only in the 6th NBA season of his career and yet he has become the “popcorn basketball” for the league. He is yet to become a veteran, and that too not for the next 3-4 years. His performances are just flashes of his greatness and Tatum has not even reached the zenith of his career. Asked about his performance against the Heat, Tatum said, “Just kind of being in the right spot, I seen a couple go down early. Just kind of shooting in rhythm.”

Tatum scored his 41 points in just three quarters and made his rest 8 in the fourth quarter. He was playing like a certified veteran and a true MVP on the floor. He was shooting from beyond the arc, slashing the top of the basket, and making beautiful midrange shots. Overall, the MVP Tatum was on display in the TD Garden.

Behind JT, Jaylen Brown, who was coming back from a game break due to stiffness in the neck scored 26 points for the Celtics. The Newly acquired Malcolm Brogdon scored a crucial 21 points for the Celtics. Tatum also crossed the 900 mark of 3-pointers made and became the only player to do it before turning 25.
