Kendrick Perkins is back in the NBA headlines with another interesting take of his. And, just like the past seasons once again, we have Big Perk hating on the superstar duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Kendrick Perkins’ recent take claims this could be the last season the basketball world gets to see the duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown together in the Boston Celtics jersey.

The Boston Celtics are about to face the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. If they get the dub they not only advance to the 2023 NBA Finals to face the Nikola Jokic-led Denver Nuggets. But they also make history by becoming the first team to come back from a 0-3 deficit in the playoffs. But the road isn’t easy for them with the odds being 0-150. Also, now they have Kendrick Perkins trying to break their duo.

On the recent episode of First Take, Kendrick Perkins and the crew was discussing the chances of the Boston Celtics to run a historic comeback. Soon the question turned towards the future of the duo. And, Big Perk who has never backed the Celtics purely and believes they don’t deserve to be applauded after their last run threw out his hot take.

Talking about the future of the superstar duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, Kendrick Perkins quoted: “Just because they win this series and they don’t go on to complete the mission of winning the NBA championship that’s a deciding factor too. This isn’t just about getting to the Finals, they did that last year. If Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum don’t get to the Finals and complete the mission, I believe this year will be the last time we will see those guys together. I don’t give a damn what they say.”

Further, explaining the reason behind his take Kendrick Perkins added: “Because if you are the Boston Celtics front office you are looking at a duo. Yes, I know that they are young but they have been to multiple conference finals, this will make two Finals appearances and now you’re actually the veteran team, and if you don’t complete the mission against the Denver Nuggets… I believe this will be the last time we’ll see those two together.”

Is Kendrick Perkins right with his take suggesting the Celtics breaking the duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown?

Kendrick Perkins’ take is pretty senseless. As no front office in the league with the right mind would willingly break a superstar duo of young players after a NBA Finals appearance. Also, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are young and improving while having a good bond on and off the court. So them breaking such a dynamic duo to establish something new in the system won’t make any sense.

But at the end of the day, the league is a business and the franchise may risk it for a title. Jaylen Brown has one more season on his contract while Jayson Tatum is booked until the 2026 summer.

Both superstars are eligible for max extensions next season. But right now they should be focused on clinching a spot in the NBA Finals. Game 7 is just hours away and it’s going to be a complete showdown.
