Joel Embiid did everything possible to lead his Philadelphia 76ers in the 2021-22 season single-handedly to make the perfect claim for this year’s MVP. Yet he has fallen short once again to Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic. As heart-broken as he was, it was evident that the Sixers’ marquee was devastated on missing out for the highest individual accolade.
Moreover, with Jokic out in the first round against the Golden State Warriors, Joel Embiid led forcefully to drag his team into the semi-final against top seed Miami Heat. Having lost the first two games, returning-Joel Embiid ensured that his team is able to bounce back to draw the series level. Before they eventually lost Game 5 to hand over the advantage once again to Jimmy Butler and Co.

“Obviously I’m not a specialist, I’m just listening to the doctors and I don’t think so, it’s just about pain tolerance and you know this is a lose-lose situation for me. If I don’t play, I’ll probably get called soft. If I play and I play bad, they’ll probably come up with a bunch of stuff like, he’s just not good enough. So, it’s all about just trying to not get too high or not too low and just go out there and dig very deep and do what I can.”
Talking about the individual performance of the above-spoken player, Joel Embiid led the Philadelphia 76ers scorers with 17 points on 58.3 % shooting from the field in Game 5. Despite his injury, he has tried his level best to contribute to the team and his resilience has been a big motivation for them. Game 6 will take place at the Wells Fargo Center, and the advantage will be with the 76ers there.
Furthermore, Joel Embiid will be hoping to motivate his team to fight for a win and take the series into Game 7, which would be a tricky one for both teams. Now with the series being in a do-or-die situation for the Sixers, all eyes will be on the form on their main man and how he can inspire their team past Heat, knowing their defensive voids.
