The Joel Embiid-led Philadelphia 76ers extended their winning streak to 2 games after they thrashed a bottom-placed Detroit Pistons 147-116. The Philly starting five from opening night took the court for just the seventh time all season as Joel Embiid and P.J. Tucker made their comebacks to the starting lineup. Since October 29, the group hadn’t started a game together. The Sixers’ record now stands at 25-15 after the victory.

Joel Embiid, the great center for the Philadelphia 76ers, made his long-awaited comeback against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday after a three-game layoff, and he didn’t miss a beat. In just 24 minutes of play, Embiid scored 36 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and had two blocks to lead Philadelphia to a 147-116 victory at the Wells Fargo Center. He shot 12-of-20 from the field and sat out the fourth.

James Harden earned his second consecutive triple-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 15 assists to go along with Joel Embiid’s impressive performance. The lethal pick-and-roll synergy between the two was on full display, and Harden was obviously happy to see Embiid back in the starting lineup.

The Sixers and Pistons played each other three times this season, the most recent game being on Tuesday. This season, the Sixers had a 236-204 advantage against the Pistons through the first two games against Detroit. The Sixers aimed to extend their winning streak as they recovered over the weekend, while the Pistons tried to avoid getting swept by Philadelphia in the regular season. Unfortunately, Detroit had to cope with a number of significant injuries ahead of the Tuesday night game.

Tobias Harris was responsible for the early start for Philadelphia. Harris put up three shots in the opening minutes and then shot flawlessly from the field, scoring seven of the Sixers’ opening nine points. James Harden’s three-pointer at the end of a 14-5 run by the Sixers in the game’s first four minutes forced Detroit into a timeout so they could attempt to regroup.

Philadelphia had the largest lead in the game going into halftime, up by 22 points. In addition to shooting far better across the board, the Sixers also dominated in the paint, outscoring Detroit 36-12.

Shortly after Harden recorded his triple-double, Joel Embiid, a big player for the Sixers, scored his 30th point. This season, Embiid has scored over 30 points in 20 games. The Sixers decided to end Embiid’s night just as the big man approached 24 minutes of playing time. Soon after, Harden was also sent to the sidelines for the remainder of the contest.
