Joel Embiid finally got a ring, but not the basketball one. Joel Embiid, 29, and Anne de Paula, 28, have finally tied the knot as they completed their ceremony in Southampton, New York. The couple have been dating for over 4 years since 2018 and have a 2-year-old son, Arthur Elijah.
In 2018, rumors went wild that the duo was dating, which was later confirmed. In one of the most emotional moments for the big man, Embiid, in 2019, during the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, when Kawhi Leonard hit the buzzer-beater, he burst into tears. Luckily, he had the side of his girl who calmed him down and helped him during the tough time. De Paula was there to support the big man when he appeared helpless.
Embiid gave a small interview at the UNINTERRUPTED Film Festival some days ago and had said, ”I got my family [from Cameroon], they come here all the time…I’m getting married [next] week, so they’re going to all come, and they’re all going to be here and going to eat some good food.”
The big man sure appears to be the family man. He also shares a very beautiful bond with their son Arthur. He was born on September 16, 2020, and will soon turn 3. Sharing the father and son bond to ESPN, De Paula said, “When Arthur sees him, there is no one else in the room. It is the most beautiful thing ever.”
NBA Twitter reacts to Joel Embiid securing a ring at his marriage
As he finished his ceremony and pictures started appearing of Embiid getting married, NBA Twitter went wild. Referring to the ring that he got from the ring ceremony, people joked that he finally got the ring, a dig at the lack of the player’s championship cabinet.
As Joel eyes the actual NBA ring, he has recently made statements on how he wished to win the ring at any cost and that he can do so at the expense of leaving Philly too. Joel recently has been tied to the Knicks too, after his statement came out in the open.
