Ja Morant has been tearing through the NBA scene lately reaching MVP levels. As for Karl Anthony-Towns, the player has been averaging 24.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game leading Minnesota past the play-in tournament and into the playoffs after nearly two decades. The Timberwolves are currently going head to head against the Grizzlies in the first-round and the matchups are intense.
The Wolves were able to snatch a win in Game 1 defeating Memphis 130-117. The Grizzlies being the 2nd seed in the Western Conference with the second best record in the entire league, set some expectations that they did not fulfil in that game. However, Ja Morant and his squad would pull through after wrecking the Wolves in a 28-point blowout.
Ja Morant calls out disrespectful fans following Game 2 blowout
The Game 1 loss of the Grizzlies came to us as a surprise. Most of us were expecting them to put show out but the Wolves had the better night instead. Fans and analysts who were initially routing for the team were quick to turn their minds against them. Ja Morant did not take the situation lightly and took to Twitter to express his intentions for the following game.
The Grizzlies defeated the Wolves 124-69 as Ja put up 23 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds. He did not shy away from speaking on the situation prior to Game 2, he said, You seen that MJ post? It was Game 1. Ain’t no point in being mad about Game 1. There’s still a lot of basketball left to be played. There’s a lot of people that picked to go to Western Conference Finals… after we lost game 1 they switched up. Tell them to stay on that side, we don’t want them here no more.”
Ja Morant’s father gets into an exchange
Ja Morant and Karl Anthony-Towns fathers both got into a friendly roast battle during Game 1. Karl Anthony Sr. and Tee Morant met each other on the sidelines during the fourth quarter while the Wolves were up by 9 points. The two parents who are apparently friends would share an embrace before Tee walked up to a nearby ESPN cameraman and said, “No smoke, we ain’t ducking no smoke. Memphis, Memphis, Memphis.”
Both superstars’ fathers would meet once again during Game 2 while the Grizzlies were in the lead. Towns Sr. jokingly jabbed a comment towards Ja Morant’s father saying, “They get a little lead, now they want to talk.” The two had made a bet with each other that required the father of the losing team to wear the winning team son’s jersey. This was indeed a very light-hearted moment amidst the intense nature of the playoffs. The teams are set to meet at the Target Center Arena, Minneapolis on Thursday for Game 3.
