The Los Angeles Clippers and the Utah Jazz faced off in their second game of the NBA season. The game was an intense one. The Jazz held the lead for the first half, but the Clippers managed to pull back towards the end and the game went down to the wire. In the end, the Jazz triumphed, winning by just two points, 120-118.
The game could’ve easily gone the other way, however. With 21 seconds on the clock, it was the Clippers’ possession and they were trailing by only 2 points. Russell Westbrook brought the ball up the floor and passed it to Kawhi Leonard. After a short passing sequence by the Clippers, Leonard found the ball at the 3-point line, put it up and missed.
The ball was collected by Russell Westbrook and with 3 seconds left he put up the jumper. It was short. What amused fans the most was Leonard’s reaction to the shot. He can be seen falling to the floor in disbelief as soon as Westbrook puts up the shot.
Westbrook is infamous for his poor shot selection and in moments like these, it becomes clear why. Westbrook had the opportunity to kick it out to an open man at the 3-point line but he still chose to take the shot for himself. Hopefully, as the season progresses, the Clippers will be able to bring some maturity to Westbrook’s game.
How did Russell Westbrook perform in the match overall?
This match was definitely not one of Westbrook’s most flattering. His performance was far from spectacular and the last few seconds were just the cap on a match that was less than impressive overall.

Westbrook was on the court for 37 entire minutes. He scored just 4 points. He however also registered 4 assists and 9 rebounds, which isn’t bad at all. The intensity was still there, however, and the Clippers will try to channel it the best they can.
Hopefully for Clippers’ fans, they’ll be able to come up with a better game plan next time. They cannot afford to lose games like these throughout the season. Until they play next, however, all the Clippers can do is plan and practice.
