WNBA Champion Kelsey Plum savagely tells Charles Barkley to be mindful of having never won an NBA championship

Charles Barkley and Kelsey Plum

WNBA superstar Kelsey Plum got back at former NBA turned ESPN analyst Charles Barkley on the championship-winning question. Kelsey is one of the biggest WNBA stars and was the first pick for the Las Vegas Aces in the 2017 WNBA draft. She also led the team to its first title.

Kelsey Plum was talking to the NBA legend and Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley on a recent episode of the podcast, ‘The Steam Room.’ Wherein the former Phoenix Suns sensation asked Plum, “Do you want to…guarantee a repeat right now (in respect to her contract)?” To which the Aces star savagely replied, “You know, for someone that’s never won a championship, I’ll just give you some advice, that’s really not what you do.”

Barkley was an 11-time NBA All-Star and former league MVP but never could get his hands on the Larry O’Brien trophy. In contrast, Kelsey averaged a career-high 20.2 points per game in 2022 and 42 percent shooting from beyond the arc. She also notched five assists per game and was named first-team All-WNBA. Kelsey is in line to match the accolades of Charles soon, but she will always have the upper hand when one compares the number of championship rings.

The legend Charles Barkley was selected as the fifth pick in the first round by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1984 NBA draft. He averaged 14.0 points and 8.6 rebounds per game during the regular season and earned a berth on the All-Rookie Team. He also took Philadelphia to the 1983 NBA championship. Barkley improved his game under the leadership of another NBA great, Moses Malone, and he went on to become the team’s leading rebounder and number two scorer, averaging 20.0 points and 12.8 rebounds per game.

He went on to play for the 76ers until the 1992 season and was soon traded to the Phoenix Suns, where he stayed until 1996. During his first stint with the Phoenix Suns, he averaged 25.6 points on .520 shooting, 12.2 rebounds, and a career-high 5.1 assists per game, leading the Suns to an NBA-best 62–20 record. Barkley’s performance helped him to win the league’s MVP Award, and he was selected to play in his seventh straight All-Star Game.

Charles was soon traded away to the Houston Rockets and served the form for almost four seasons (1996-2000). He battled injuries throughout the first season with the Rockets and played only 53 games, missing the rest for various reasons.

Barkley averaged 14.5 points on .477 shooting and 10.5 rebounds per game in his final season. But all his efforts to win an NBA championship never succeeded.
