Kendrick Perkins batted for Klay Thompson and his credentials for the place in NBA’s legendary 75th-anniversary team. He considers the 2022 NBA finals could be the perfect answer this splash-brother can slap his critics with, after not being included in the legendary NBA 75 team.
Golden State Warriors made it into the NBA Finals on one of the best games from Klay Thompson. Dallas Mavericks tried crawling back into the conference finals but Thompson’s game-5 performance left them no chance in the game. But still, most people talk less about him and even the league snubbed him for the NBA’s 75th-anniversary team. Klay Thompson is without any doubt the second-best scorer for the offensively dominant Golden State Warriors and as per Kendrick Perkins, he deserves more respect than that.

All the layers selected in the NBA’s 75th-anniversary team have certainly made their mark on the league with their playing styles, and offensive and/or defensive prowess. But Klay Thompson is one such player who got snubbed out of the team, despite many similar skill-sets and even proving himself on the biggest stage of them all – 3 times to be exact.
After an impressive Final run since the 2015 season, the Golden State team was struggling with adversity in recent years. One of the most obvious reasons was Thompson’s injury and his absence from the court. The Warriors team might have made their 6th appearance in the 8 seasons, but Klay Thompson is particularly made consecutive 6 finals appearances – highlighting his importance to the team.
Klay missed consecutive seasons while trying to recover from a pair of season-ending injuries. Kendrick had similar issues and applauded Klay for his return. He further went on to say, “We talked about Steph Curry over the last two weeks about getting the opportunity to get the finals MVP, right? Klay also has the chance to get the finals MVP. Klay winning the finals MVP would do everything for his legacy and prove to the people that left him off the top 75 greatest all-time list that he belongs on there.”
Now finally healthy, the Warriors star wing is looking to add another championship to his collection, and this one could be one of the most special. His return to the league was well celebrated by the Dub nation and winning the title would be extra special for the 32-year-old star.
Klay Thompson closed out the series against Memphis Grizzlies and also against Dallas Mavericks. If he could do the same against Boston Celtics, it would be a fitting ending to the season he made his return in. “I was watching them in college Game 7 at Staples (Center) with my dad in 2010. 12 years later, I get to play the team I was rooting against” Klay Thompson said on playing the Celtics in the Finals.
As far as the Warriors’ selfless culture goes, everyone would be pleased if any of their stars win the Finals MVP award, as far as the team wins it all. It’s also going to be fascinating to see what type of performance veteran star Klay Thompson can put forth for the Golden State Warriors. After two years of being sidelined with injuries, Thompson has battled his way back.
