Kendrick Perkins praises Tyrese Maxey
Tyrese Maxey has ice in his veins as he halts the advance of Miami Heat with a performance that turned a lot of heads. The Philadelphia 76ers grab one back in the series as they defend their home court with a convincing 99-79 win against Miami Heat. The series now sits perfectly poised , enthralling encounters await as Philadelphia would want to carry this positive intent in Game 4.The youngster dropped 21 points on 63.6% shooting and 6 assits from the field on Friday.
With the win, the Sixers cut into what is now a 2-1 series lead for the top-seeded Heat. 76ers MVP Finalist Joel Embiid, who did not play in either of the first two meetings due to injury an orbital fracture, returned wearing a face mask and grabbed an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double in 36 minutes of play. Embiid wasn’t the dominant force he was throughout the season and tired as the game went on. With Green, Maxey and James Harden all crushing Heat rallies with big buckets, Embiid didn’t have to carry the Sixers.

Kendrick Perkins, the former NBA player thoroughly enjoyed Tyrese Maxey’s performance and was not short of praises for the 21 year old from Dallas. Perkins greatly admired Tyrese during his Game 1, 38-point eruption against the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the Playoffs.
Perkins stated that Philadelphia strongly need to consider giving Tyrese a good deal to keep him with them, while negotiating contract extensions this offseason. The franchise also has a decision to make regarding James Harden ,as he has a $47-million player option next season and is eligible for a max contract that will see him earn $61.67 million when he turns 36. Harden hasn’t exactly performed like the Harden he was in Houston, however, Perkins believes that the 76ers need to consider how Maxey is playing and accordingly negotiate the Harden deal.
It wasn’t much of a surprise to see the Sixers look much more organized and energized from the start of this game than they had in the previous two games. The rim protection was essentially better compared to the previous two games, the Sixers held Miami to just 17 first quarter points and 34 first half points.
Danny Green was locked and loaded from deep as he converted seven of his nine 3-point attempts, finishing the contest with a team-high-tying 21 points and four rebounds. James Harden got off to a hot start, putting up 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Falling 3-0 would have been a death sentence, the 76ers have a lifeline thanks to an overall effort and Tyrese Maxey’s brilliant performance. Maxey has taken up the charge and is averaging 22.4 PPG in the playoffs and would want to continue putting up such numbers . Game 3 was revenge, Game 4 could be redemption day for Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers, their superstar is back with a mask and so is their energy.
