“Don’t be a crybaby” Kevin Durant speaks on the BIGGEST lesson learnt from Kobe Bryant’s impeccable legacy

Kevin Durant is one of the most fearless competitors in the NBA right now and he has often admitted that he only wants to battle it out on the court playing basketball. Based of his recent antics, people may call him out for being soft or easily offended, but the Brooklyn Nets superstars claims quite the opposite. He believes that he isn’t a crybaby.

In a recent interview with the media, he opened up about Kobe Bryant and what the legend’s legacy taught him over the years. His reply was a perfect example of what the Black Mamba was all about. Fearless, determined and ready to battle. Kobe was extremely focused and this is exactly what Kevin Durant took away from the legend.

He said, “Don’t be a crybaby. I was at that age at 23 where I thought the world revolved around me and he was real humble in how he approached the game, how he approached his teammates, just life in general. So I just learned watching his movements… he didn’t say much but he was a example by how he moved.”

His reply was very apt for who Bryant was as a person. Kevin Durant also had the opportunity to share the court with the late Los Angeles Lakers legend several times. The two even had the opportunity to play on the USA Basketball squad in 2012 along with LeBron James. They managed to win the gold medal as well.

Kobe Bryant was known for his highly skilled offense, but he also had great defense. His defense, though underrated, was feared by many across the league. But Kobe once admitted that Kevin Durant was the only player he couldn’t understand how to guard. He joined A-Rod on The Crop and claimed Durant’s developing mannerisms stopped Kobe from seeing right through him.

He said, “Kevin Durant. That was the one that I retired without really being able to figure out what it is… how I can stop him. When he first came into the league, he was easy to defend because he couldn’t go right and shoot… he started developing so I developed it and now he can pull up left, he can pull upright, he can shoot the long ball, he has runners, left hand, right hand.”

He further said, “Before he had a left-hand finish at the rim, I could always send him left, force him all the way to the basket… he was still uncomfortable finishing with his left so I could clamp the right hand, and now forced him into a tough situation. But now he’s developed that so I retired not being able to figure him out.”
