Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce were seen debating about the NBA Finals matchup between the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat. While Garnett backed both teams and called them the best two sides, the Truth did not agree with what his former teammate had to say. After a Hall of Fame career, the two former Boston Celtics players have moved into broadcasting where they talk about basketball with other prominent guests.
Paul Pierce threw in some stats to slam the Miami Heat and their run to the Finals. However, Kevin Garnett backed the team from South Beach and stated that the matchup was between two complete teams and not two or three players. Despite the stellar win in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the Nuggets can expect a better performance from the Heat in Game 2 as they are a side that are capable of turning things around quickly.
Speaking about the Finals on Showtime Basketball, Garnett said, “We’ve got the two best teams playing against each other P, I’m talking about 10 to 10, not like you’re 3 vs my.” Paul Pierce clearly did not agree with this and minced no words in slamming the Heat’s run to the Finals. “I don’t think them the two best teams,” said Pierce on the NBA Finals matchup.
KG was quick to dismiss this comment made by Pierce and said, “You trippin boy.” However, the 2008 Finals MVP put in his argument and said, “Miami was the worst-scoring team in the league during the regular season. They showed bad habits all year long and all of a sudden they got to the playoffs and they just flip a switch and now they become a whole different team.”
Miami Heat need to improve on a few important things ahead of Game 2 against the Denver Nuggets
The Miami Heat was only able to make 13 three-pointers during Game 1 against the Denver Nuggets. Although it was five more than what the Nuggets made, their poor shooting is what held them back during the first encounter. The Miami Heat had some great looks, but Caleb Martin and Max Struss were both cold from the three-point range. If the team from South Beach wants to have any chance of a comeback, they will have to shoot better in Game 2 against the Denver Nuggets.
Another thing for the Heat to work on is getting to the free-throw line. The Eastern Conference champs only shot two free throws, which shows their lack of aggressiveness in trying to attack the rim. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo will have to do a better job in leading the way from the front and making those aggressive runs to the rim for the Miami Heat to succeed in this aspect. If the team are able to work on these two things primarily going into Game 2, they could make things difficult for the Denver Nuggets.
