“I just want to send my condolences to Mr. Hamlin,” Klay Thompson sends prayers to Bills’ Damar Hamlin after beating Hawks with 54 points
Damar Hamlin and Klay Thompson
Klay Thompson was back in form and drilling buckets against the Atlanta Hawks. While KT was having his best game of the season so far. The sporting world was shocked and heartbroken with the situation around Damar Hamlin, Buffalo Bills’ safety. So being a real one, Klay Thompson sent out a powerful message for Damar Hamlin after his game.
Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit during Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills’ match-up. The unfortunate incident took place in the first quarter. As Damar Hamlin attempted to tackle and stop Bengals’ Tee Higgins registered a hard hit. Seconds after that collision, Hamlin stood up for a moment and then collapsed on the field.
After the heart-breaking incident, the game was postponed by NFL. The medical staff present in the stadium also gave their best possible efforts to better Hamlin’s situation. As after performing CPR for around ten minutes Damar was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center via an ambulance.
The sporting world since then is distressed with the situation. And, so is Klay Thompson. As he started his post-game conference sending out prayers for Hamlin, his teammates and his family. When asked about his monstrous performance against the Hawks, Klay Thompson said: “Before I answer that question, I just want to send my condolences to Mr. Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills, his family, his teammates and the city of Buffalo.”
Further Klay Thompson added: “As athletes, sometimes the game can overshadow us as individuals or people and on behalf of the Warriors organization, we wish him the best. Keeping him in our prayers and hoping for the best possible outcome. Just a tremendous person and it’s bigger than sports.” Thompson correctly pointed out how this is bigger than sports as it’s about an individual’s life.
Klay Thompson carries the Stephen Curry-less Warriors past the Hawks
Klay Thompson was out for nothing but straight business against the Hawks. As drilling 21 jumpers from the field and 10 from downtown, Klay had them speechless. The Dubs got the close dub at 143-141 behind his 54 points performance. Thompson also caught 8 boards, dished out 3 dimes and got one block during his second highest career-scoring night.
He was backed up by Jordan Poole (28 points, 5 assists and 6 rebounds). The Dubs now have won five games straight. But with a 20-18 record they are ranked in the 9th spot in the Western Conference. With Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson balling out and Stephen Curry nearing his return to action. The Dubs can improve a lot and get back into the contention conversation.
If the Golden State Warriors want to defend their title this season. Steve Kerr would have to bring in some major changes in the system. The team would also have to play some winning ball on the road. Also, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole with other rotational pieces would have to step up and ball out for the team. The front office should also try to improve the bench.
