Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons
Four games into the season, Ben Simmons is being yelled at by Kyrie Irving to shoot the ball as another game ends with no one knowing which version of Simmons Brooklyn will obtain after the team’s 1-4 record after a defeat to Milwaukee.
To start the season, Kyrie Irving has been fantastic for the Brooklyn Nets. Irving has been a scoring machine through the first four games of the season, while the Nets have struggled to get frequent victories. Ben Simmons made his regular-season debut with the Nets, and it hasn’t been the best start so far as he fouled out in two games out of four and hasn’t had impressive stats. The tension is obviously there and it was evident after a certain play involving Irving and Simmons against the Bucks.
In the third quarter, Irving made a fast break across the lane and found Simmons in the paint with a pass. Without ever appearing to even glance at the basket, Simmons grabbed the ball with a few players around him, took one dribble, and passed it back out to Kevin Durant at the top of the 3-point arc. But when Simmons sent it off to Durant, a yell of “Shoot it, Ben!” was heard on broadcast which appeared to be from Irving.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks with a domineering win over Nets

The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Brooklyn Nets 110-99 on Wednesday night thanks in large part to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s brilliance. Antetokounmpo scored 34 points in the second half and finished with a total of 43 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists. Additionally for Milwaukee, Bobby Portis scored 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Jrue Holiday chipped in with 15 points. As the third quarter came to a close, the Nets had a 70-66 lead, but Milwaukee managed to outscore them the rest of the way, 44-29 to get the W.
For the Nets, Royce O’Neale scored 12, Kyrie Irving 27, and Kevin Durant 33 points. Ben Simmons ended with at least as many fouls (four) as points in Milwaukee, as he went 2-of-7 from the field and extended his season total to 9-of-20 shooting. Steve Nash, the coach of the Brooklyn Nets, was ejected for the first time in his coaching career after clashing with the officials, thus he was not present to see Giannis finished dismantling the Nets, dropping their record to 1-3.

During the Nets’ game against the Milwaukee Bucks, Irving was heard shouting at Simmons and pleading with the player to shoot the ball as a path to the basket opened up. As Irving threw up his arms in annoyance, Simmons opted to pass the ball to Durant. Many people on social media confused the message for coming from the seven-time All-Star based on the gestures he was making under the basket.
This is how fans around YouTube explained the incident:

Fans around twitter had a bunch of reactions too:
With Simmons on the floor concurrently, the Nets have had trouble generating offence, so stretching out his playing time could be something to consider in the future. Despite averaging 5.7 points on 4.3 field goal attempts in his first four games with the Nets, nothing suggests that Simmons is eager to become a scoring option in Brooklyn. Brooklyn has risen to the occasion thus far this season, and it is anticipated that Simmons will stick with Kyrie and Kevin Durant along the road.
