Kyrie Irving’s suspension causes Black Israelite group to protest outside Barclays Center
Black Israelite group protest in support of Kyrie Irving
Kyrie Irving being suspended from the Brooklyn Nets team temporarily has not done the team any good so far. Several backlashes have been received by the organization for banning the NBA superstar.
Earlier today, Brooklyn Nets took on the New York Knicks at the Barclays Center. Leading up to the game, fans came across a Black Israelite group protesting the suspension of superstar Kyrie Irving. The protests have gone from just the internet to real life now. This is another problem that Nets have to take care of.
Kyrie Irving was suspended for five games by the Brooklyn Nets for his “anti-semitic” views. This all started when the superstar shared a documentary that is offensive to the Jewish community on his Twitter handle. The protests outside the Barclays Center seemed to be peaceful according to Twitter users who shared snaps of the protests.

Twitter user, “@jmikey” who was at the Barclays Center posted a flyer that was handed out by the Black Israelite Group who were in support of the Nets’ star player. The tweet suggests that the group was “peacefully preaching” and “videotaping” the protest. Check out the flyer handed out by the group in the below tweet:

Member of the Israel United in Christ speaks out in support of Kyrie Irving
Deacon Eythan of Israel United in Christ was against the suspension of Kyrie Irving and believes that it is actually contradicting to brand Irving as an “antisemite”. “We’re expressing our support of Kyrie Irving and his stance in terms of him knowing who he is,” said the member of the Israeli group talking to The New York Post.
“Kyrie Irving himself understands that not only are we Semitic ourselves, but it is contradictory and hypocritical to say that someone is anti-Semitic when they are Semitic,” said the member of Israel United in Christ group. Irving was asked to apologize for his actions but the player came out with a blatant “No” when asked if he had any anti-semitic beliefs.
It has been four games since the player has not appeared on the basketball court. The next NBA game for the Brooklyn Nets is on November 20th. Irving’s actions have caused a lot of chaos within the NBA organization. What are your thoughts on Kyrie’s suspension?
