“Might not play in the NBA again” League Executive believes Kyrie Irving’s career is already wrapped, Twitter reacts

Kyrie Irving

After a volatile week that resulted with Kyrie Irving being suspended indefinitely for at least five games, the Brooklyn Nets are climbing off of it. Irving is known for sharing his ideas on a wide range of subjects, and his most recent action could be fatal to his career as some are starting to question whether he’ll ever play in the NBA again.

Kyrie Irving recently came across another scenario that compelled him to either accept responsibility for his unsatisfactory acts or let himself to turn into what many perceive him to be: “a constant disaster.” On social media last week, Irving promoted a movie that contained inappropriate material related to antisemitism. Since then, Irving has declined to express regret for the movie’s content or to apologize for it altogether, finally doing so when it was already too late. However, Irving’s future with Brooklyn as a whole as well as the NBA as a whole is now uncertain.

Sam Amick of The Athletic conducted an informal survey of league general managers about the Nets star after this incident. There, someone expressed their opinion that the 30-year-old had featured in his final game of his career. As stated by a GM from the NBA: “I think Kyrie might not play in the NBA again.” Another executive also mentioned: “He’s the opposite of a commodity, which is what you want a player who’s getting paid that much to be.” These would be the people who would decide whether to give Kyrie another chance if he decided to leave the Nets.

Kyrie Irving and his antisemitic promotion explained

Kyrie Irving was able to connect together his ridiculous behavior since last Friday by posting a link on Twitter and Instagram to the 2018 documentary “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America,” which has antisemitic elements and was based on a book with the same title. The movie appears to have been disturbing, and some individuals have criticized the book and movie for having an antisemitic tone. The NBA and Irving’s sponsor Nike (parted ways with the guard) both issued comments denouncing antisemitism and hate speech in addition to the press release after this.

After sharing the movie’s link, Kyrie Irving and ESPN’s Nick Friedell got into an argument during which he was questioned about the idea of endorsing the movie. In an effort to fight intolerance and discrimination in the community, Irving and the Nets promised to donate $500,000 to groups and causes. In response to the uproar, the Anti-Defamation League and the team also released a joint statement on Wednesday. The fact that Irving had not shown regret disturbed NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Nets owner Joe Tsai as well.

Fans react to the news of Irving not playing in the NBA again

The 30-year-old was given six “remedial measures” by the Nets to undertake before he could rejoin the team; according to a source, this list was established knowing he wouldn’t likely complete all six and risk an outright dismissal. Irving has publicly apologized in a post on Instagram, but it is still unclear whether he will remain with the organization or not.

Kyrie not playing in the NBA had many fans in disbelief on social media:

Teams may desire Kyrie Irving as a player on their roster, but it’s unlikely that any franchise will take on his burden. At this point in his career, his contribution on the court isn’t sufficient to offset the disruption he creates off the court. Even though it’s unlikely, it’s difficult to comprehend that Irving might never play in the NBA again. Irving’s options may be restricted because he is in the final year of his current contract if the Nets decide to part ways with him following the most recent incident.
