The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 133-89 on Thursday night to advance to the NBA In-Season tournament championship game. LeBron James scored 30 points in less than three-quarters of play. With the victory, the Lakers will play the Indiana Pacers in the NBA Cup finals, which are scheduled for December 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

James finished with 30 points (9/12 FG, 4/4 3PT, 8/8 FT), 5 rebounds, and 8 assists in a mere 23 minutes of action as the team defeated the opposition 133-89. The score at the end of the first half read 67-54, giving the Lakers a 13-point lead. James and the other players extended the lead to as many as 44 points in the second half.

LeBron James, who keeps defying time, put on another incredible performance that was the driving force behind the victory. James broke the record set by Nick Young in 2014, who scored 30 points in 22:56 minutes, in just 22:32 minutes. The four-time NBA champion demonstrated the significance of the games being played, making it clear that he needs to get ahead against the Pelicans.

James stated that Los Angeles’ journey to the championship game demonstrates the team’s potential. The defense, which limited New Orleans to 35.8% shooting, and the Lakers’ 59-42 rebounding advantage satisfied him. For Los Angeles, Taurean Prince finished with 15 points, Anthony Davis scored 16 points and 15 rebounds, and Austin Reaves scored 17.

LeBron James thinks it’s just another game referring to the NBA In-season Final

Tonight, the Lakers dominated the Pelicans in the semifinals. Even heading into the third quarter, LA was going to win. The players on the opposing team appeared prepared to raise the white flag because the gap was too great.

The 38-year-old does not appear overly excited about the whole thing. Even though it meant it would guarantee them a spot in the finals. And that they would be one step closer to IST glory.

He tempered talk of winning another championship by saying,

This thing has been great - In-Season Tournament - but it's still December. But it [the final] is another game for us to get better, and we want to try to win the game, because we're a team that wants to get better every single game we go out there, every quarter, every possession, so we got another opportunity to do that.

LeBron may see the In-Season Tournament as a place to hone his skills. But his performance on Thursday says otherwise.

More than his output in various categories, LeBron James had a game with no turnovers. In addition, over his 21 seasons in the league, the former MVP leads the team in games with zero turnovers while also averaging 30 points and 8 assists.
