The Los Angeles Lakers have made NBA history and made the playoffs starting the season 0-5 and becoming the first team to do so and LeBron James seems to be happy with the team around him. The Lakers’ roster went through wholesale changes during the trade deadline and have been on fire since. The King has shown love for his new teammates but NBA fans do not seem to believe him.
“LeSuperTeam is trading everyone next year again when he loses,” said one fan on Twitter with a graphic of the number of players that have been traded with LeBron James on their roster. Over 60 players, excluding the ones dealt in the Russell Westbrook deal, are present in the graphic, excluding those. James has been known to be the ‘General Manager’ of every team he is on, as he likes to choose the players he wins with.
LeBron has had franchises built around him since his debut in the league, and it’s no surprise the number of trades teams are willing to do to keep LeBron. The Cleveland Cavaliers traded 43 players during LeBron James’ return from 2014 to 2018. in 2018 Cleveland changed almost their entire roster during the all-star break after the King was not pleased with aging stars like Derrick Rose and Dwyane Wade.

After a turbulent start to the season, the Los Angeles Lakers have recovered to secure the 7th seed in the Western Conference. The team made vital trades to acquire D’Angelo Russell, Jared Vanderbilt, and Malik Beasley. They also managed to offload Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley in the process. Since these trades, the Lakers have gone 18-9 to leap from the 11th seed to the play-ins.
After winning a championship in 2020, the Lakers decided to shake up their roster yet again, leading to a failed title defense ending in a first-round exit. The King was criticized for offloading key role-players in Kyle Kuzma and Alex Caruso, leading to them getting the 7th seed via the play-ins. The Lakers are in a similar position but with a promising and young roster.
The Lakers will face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first play-in matchup on April 11th. They went 1-2 against Minnesota in the regular season, but post-season, LeBron James would not want to lose this one. LeBron has played just one play-in game in his career against the Golden State Warriors in 2021, where he dominated and scored what ended up being the winning three-pointer.
