WATCH: Marcus Smart left in shock as Stephen Curry drills a 46-ft half-court buzzer-beating three-pointer and ties the NBA record
Stephen Curry's buzzer-beater from halfcourt didn't just get registered in the history books but also shocked Marcus Smart.
Stephen Curry vs the Boston Celtics
The Stephen Curry-led Golden State Warriors returned to action on Thursday night against the Boston Celtics. The Warriors visited TD gardens with a 22-22 record as they sit 6th in the Western Conference just a position below the Dallas Mavericks. In this match, the Warriors made a small yet significant change in their lineup. With guard Jordan Poole starting in place of center Kevon Looney, the Dubs are attempting a whole different starting lineup and playing small.
They’ve tried it previously and it was successful. Looney was replaced in the starting lineup by Otto Porter Jr. by Kerr when the Warriors were down 2-1 to the Celtics in Game 2 of the NBA Finals one year ago. The Warriors won the following three games to win their fourth title in eight years. Therefore, it appears that the Warriors are adhering to that successful formula.
But that’s not all that happened during this game. Without a doubt, Stephen Curry is the best shooter in NBA history. In addition to having the most three-pointers in NBA history, Steph has also recently tied the record for the most half-court baskets. By taking the ball away from Jayson Tatum, retrieving it, and launching a 46-foot shot from beyond halfcourt that was unquestionably going to go in the basket, Stephen Curry put the finishing touches on the first half and shocked Marcus Smart of the Celtics with it. Smart wasn’t able to believe the unreal shot drilled by Curry and the viral video says it all.
Curry equaled Jamal Crawford for the most half-court threes in NBA history with his incredible shot against the Boston Celtics on Thursday night. He also equaled Crawford for the most made shots from at least 45 feet in the statistic with his eighth attempt in his professional career.
Stephen Curry on his most memorable game
Every top player is aware of their top performance. They know deep down. You must be aware of your peak performance if you want to join the pantheon of NBA greats. The Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry was aware of it last year.
When he talks about the game in the past, Steph does it openly and with joy in his voice. He scored a scorching 43 points against the Celtics. And in a way that caused their ground to tremble. The Warriors needed to win because they were down 2-1. Curry then believed it was time to display the full scope of his abilities.
Curry, in a video posted by the Warriors, spoke about the game that was his most memorable. He said, “Game 4 of the NBA Finals was memorable. It, I think, was me at the height of my powers.” There is no doubt that he is being discussed as one of the best, whether or not you consider him to be your greatest. And against the Celtics, he once again used his talent to make his case. But unfortunately, his efforts this time weren’t enough and the Celtics walked away with the dub at 121-118 in overtime.
