Michael Jordan is undoubtedly one of the best players to ever step on a basketball court or even touch the ball. As he is also regarded as the G.O.A.T by many and there are thousands of his stories which are loud enough to prove his greatness. He dominated any and every team that came in his way during his prime years with the Chicago Bulls and won six NBA championships. Michael Jordan though never limited himself to the basketball court and had enough love for Golf too. As he also enjoyed his time on the green field. His off-the-court greats and also the heroics he pulled on the hardwood had him listed as a megastar since day one and him being the face of the league and a global star soon controversies came in with media trying to stab him down with his gambling stories.

Michael Jordan is undoubtedly the biggest competitive player ever in the league’s history as once he takes something personally it’s just over for his rivals. His competitiveness gave him a winning habit. He also had a hobby of gambling and betting. But many around framed Michael Jordan as a Big Gambler and addict and some big numbers were also thrown out. Many also believe his betting addiction had him suspended from the league but shown as retirement to the world, it’s just a theory by the fans and there’s no support for it.

Michael Jordan though denied most of these claims in an interview with Connie Chung. As claiming it all to be his “competition problem” he further said: “I can stop gambling…I have a competition problem, a competitive problem…I enjoy it, it’s a hobby. If I had a problem, I’d be starving. I’d be hawking this watch, my championship rings, I would sell my house. My wife would have left me, or she’d be starving. I do not have a problem, I enjoy gambling.” Honestly, one can’t deny his explanation as he really is of a very competitive nature and one of his many betting stories says the same.

A former mobster and captain of Colombo crime family, Michael Franzese years ago detailed his experience of watching Michael Jordan gamble and fight for his $5 bet at Mike Tyson’s Hotboxin podcast. Franzese detailing it quoted: “I love Jordan, to me, he is still the all-time favorite basketball player, but we were once in a security meeting with the NBA. Michael was playing the head of security in table tennis for five bucks. Of course, Michael wins, he wins at everything. So Horace has his warm-up suit on, and Michael goes where are my five bucks. He said that it’s up in his room, so he goes up and tells him to go out to get it. Horace looked at him and said, five bucks Michael. He said yeah, this is my trophy, I beat you. He puts it in his pocket and walks away. I said, wow, this is intense.”

This really is a Michael Jordan story and there’s no doubt about it. As MJ can really pull such things up because of his competitive and winning nature. Obviously a millionaire then and a multi-billionaire now doesn’t need such a little amount. But his reason of claiming that as a trophy settles it all down and he also had all the rights to demand it as betting has its own rules and gentlemen obey those like they did.
